Her rage was entirely disproportional to what was going on right now. It simmered under her skin and slipped out on and off all day, making her glad of her wards in her workrooms and the closed door at the back of the shop, so no one could see when accidental magic spilled out of her when she thought too much about her brother. Sometimes it slipped out in sparks of magic. Sometimes it slipped out in hot, scalding tears, just a couple, before she’d wipe them savagely away. She’d always hated that she sometimes cried when incredibly angry.

There was so much good going on right now that she didn’t entirely understand why she was so upset. She was so genuinely thrilled to have Tristan home, to have him with her even part of the time. Perhaps it was that happiness that made her irrationally upset over Hyperion’s words in her journal, over his blatant refusal to get upset with her in return. The tastes of jealousy and envy were incredibly bitter on her tongue, and she hated those emotions with a passion. She’d always struggled with them on a low level, but seeing Hyperion achieve all the goals she’d once set for herself all the way back before her first year tore at the scabbed wounds in her still there from the war. Perhaps if she could have a proper cry, it could help, but she patently resisted it. She’d always been told tears were a sign of weakness, and she hated being weak.

She hated a lot of things, it felt like sometimes.

Especially that her rational mind was perfectly aware she was drastically overreacting. She scrabbled for anything to keep her above water and sliding into doing something she’d always regret.

So she grabbed her Beater’s bat and her broom, a model that had been top of the line back when she played at Hogwarts but was old now, and headed to the park. Hitting things helped, and she’d rather they be inanimate things. Safer that way. She didn’t need more guilt on top of what she carried constantly. She made sure to carefully ward the Bludgers to keep from hitting anyone too low, and checked the area for kids and warded it with an age line that would quickly wear off, just enough to alert her if kids did arrive.

With that, she kicked off and released the bludgers, and swung the bat in a resounding crack as it beat first one and then the other away from her.

Roger smirked slightly at the beginnings of a grin on her face. "Well that's a comfort. I don't tend to give myself massive blunt head trauma but there's always a first time," he said cavalierly.

He focused on missing the bludgers soaring towards him with a certain level of ferocity before finally answering her. "I'll definitely keep that in mind," he said with a serious nod. "My friend Marcus went to prison and it's utterly shit."

"Chaser actually," he replied whistling slightly as she smacked the bludger away with impressive force. "For the Arrows."

"You'll never know if you'll like it until you try it," she told him dryly, hands resting on her thighs as she directed the broom with only her legs, something she'd worked long and hard on over the years so she could better wield the bat.

She tilted her head birdlike and regarded him to see if he was using the word friend facetiously or not. "You know Marcus, huh?" she said, raising a brow, arms crossing over her chest with her bat as she tracked the bludgers as they swung back to her. She watched him from the corner of her eye, however, trying to assess his reaction.

"That's right, sorry. I mostly follow Pride and the Harpies, with Beaters thrown in there," she said. She stretched out her arms a bit while she was bludger free, and passed the bat to her left hand to start hitting it from that side.

Roger pretended to think about it for a moment, idly gripping the broom with his knees. "I'm going to have to regretfully pass I think," he said spreading his hands and bowing, a move which sent him into a gleeful dive pursued by bludgers. This was actually quite fun, and good for his bludger awareness - which the coach was making him focus on after the Rib Incident as it was now known.

"I do," he replied with a giant grin as he came back within range of her. "He's one of my favourite people actually. I'm a little bit in love with him." He looked at her, confused at the sudden watchfulness she was giving him in regards to the question. "I take it he's a mutual friend then? Which probably means Pansy as well."

He laughed and shook his head easily. "No need to apologise, I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist over someone not knowing who I am," he replied easily. "It's refreshing."

She relaxed a little, whirling and hitting the next bludger just as hard with her left arm as she had with her right. She'd always been ambidextrous with little preference to what side she used, and she had always deliberately kept from overbuilding one side or another.

"Yes, I know Marcus," she replied. "I consider him a friend." And one of the few she trusted from the war. "And Pansy, of course. She's a cousin of sorts -- I believe second cousin once removed?" she said, picturing the family tree in her mind. "Plus she was in Slytherin just a year under me."

She snorted softly. "Some people would be offended," she said dryly, pursuing a bludger and hitting it back toward him.

Roger looked at her for a moment, cogs whirring in the back of his mind. "Wait you're... Cassandra- no sorry, Pandora Montgomery right? I think Marc has mentioned you. Plus your cousin just got out?" He dodged a stray bludger then returned within easy conversational range. "I like Pansy too," he added thoughtfully. "Though she does scare the crap out of me."

He rolled his eyes and performed an unnecessarily triple sumersault to lose the bludger, which eventually gave up and zoomed back towards Pandora. "Some would yes, but I play Quidditch because I enjoy the game, not because I want Penny Dreadful to write a fictitious account of my various lovechilds - she wrote lovechilds, not love children - so yeah, definitely not offended."

"Yeah, I'm Pandora," she said, managing not to say it too shortly. She wondered what Marcus had told him. "Yeah, Tris just got out." Her chin set a bit, a stubborn and, for her, brave expression, though it'd take someone who knew her to recognize it. "I got out a bit after Marcus." It wasn't like it was uncommon knowledge, really, all he'd have to do was ask any of the Alley gossips. They were always more than happy to tell dirt on her.

She snorted. "She doesn't scare me, but you're probably wise to be afraid," she said, obscurely amused.

Show off, she thought with only a faint eye roll that was part amusement. Her shoulders were a little looser than before. "Ha, Penny Dreadful, as if anyone with sense actually believes her drivel," she said with a bit of scorn in her tone.

"Nice to meet you," Roger replied with a grin, appreciating the fact that while he knew she wasn't pissed off with him, she was also trying to not sound pissed off at all. He nodded and grinned. "I always liked Tris. We were housemates and all that." He lifted his eyebrows but otherwise nodded. "That's good," he replied calmly. "Marcus doesn't really talk about that stuff, but he's my friend and there's no judgement from me."

He shook his head and moved his head to one side to stop a bludger taking it off. "You're braver than I am, because she can be terrifying. I like her, but I wouldn't get on her bad side."

"I'm glad you think so," he replied approvingly. "She got better for a while when she ended up in my mum's ward at St Mungo's and was treated to what could only be described as a frosty reception from the entire healing staff. What's your beef with her?"

"Tris is the best. We've been besties for a long time. Share a birthday and everything." He had been her rock during the war, as well as a close friend along with her siblings before that. She nodded at his remarks about Marcus; she was glad he had friends who were supportive.

"Like I said, same house, a year apart." Her tone was dry. She and Pansy hadn't always gotten along, though they hadn't necessarily butted heads either. "Though I agree, getting on her bad side isn't a good idea." Not that she scared Dora in that fashion. Once you'd met Aunt Bellatrix, anyone else paled in comparison.

She lifted a shoulder casually. "She runs her mouth all the time about things and people she shouldn't," she said.

Roger nodded with a smile. "Obviously I haven't known him as long, but I like him too," he replied. He decided to leave off any comments about being glad that Tristan was out of gaol as he was fairly sure it would come across as trite or insincere, and he rather thought the woman was still too pissed off with whatever it was that was pissing her off to deal with unintentional triteness or insincerity.

"That must be it," Roger agreed thoughtfully, ducking for a bludger again. In reality, Pansy didn't actually scare him all that much, but he wasn't keen on her discovering that fact through a third party and trying to change it to her benefit. "Getting on most people's bad side is probably pretty unwise," he said in agreement, before flashing her a mischevious grin. "For example, whoever caused this should probably be fairly sorry right now."

"I couldn't agree more," he replied fervently. "She's not quite as bad as Rita Skeeter though."

Her lips twitched. She took a moment to pursue a bludger and whack it back to him with an added twirl on her broom before speaking again. "Yes, he should be," she said. "But as he's my brother, I doubt he'll even realize he's done anything wrong. Or know enough to be grateful that I know fratricide is wrong." Her voice was dry with a hint of foreboding, but not directed at him.

"Hmm, and who is as bad as that bitch," she said frankly. Skeeter had written more than one scathing article against Death Eaters returning to society. She'd wanted to kill the woman more than once and was pretty sure most people would laud her for it.

Roger rolled his eyes and dodged the bludger, taking his own bat and whacking it back at her lazily. He laughed out loud at her statement and flashed her a pearly grin. "That's the way of brothers though, always pissing off their sisters," he replied comfortably, deciding to whack another bludger out of the way. "Not that I have siblings, but you know, it's a cliché for a reason."

He shrugged and focused on plummeting out of the way of some bludgers and then whizzing past her with them hot in pursuit for several moments before they gave up and headed back towards her. "You know she has this little green quill right? It writes all the crap for her."

"I honestly don't think most people end up wanting to throttle their siblings," she said with a shrug. "Though it's only Peri I really want to have a go at, anyway." Peri and his stupid black and white ideals, never listening to her, always managing to wind her up with the stupidest things. She was always so angry at him, it seemed, and it was very easy to just get mad when he deliberately provoked her. She sighed and twirled her bat as she waited on a bludger, feeling more relaxed than she had earlier though still not completely calm. "He's just an arse, I guess."

She snorted. "Yeah, that quill is where she keeps her little pea brain, right?" she said.
