Journal: Alicia Spinnet
It’s that time of the year again: back to school. Quite a few of you helped out with the trips to Diagon Alley to get some of the Foundation’s kids ready to go, and for that we are truly grateful. Now we’re asking for your help and support again, this time with helping a handful of students (and in some cases, their families as well) getting safely on-board the Hogwarts Express:

1 first year students and their family is spending the weekend in London, have requested assistance at the train station.
4 students (second year and up) are without transportation to King’s Cross for various reasons. Portkey and Floo access will be provided.

If you can and if you are interested in helping out, please contact me and I will pair you up with a student as well as fill you in on the hows and whys.

Private to those with children: During a talk with Dominic Chambers (the handyman at Finnigan’s) talk fell on the possibility of Transfiguring The Roost into something other than a bar setting and that maybe this could be used for playdates. This would be fun for the kids, it would give us parents a chance to get together while giving the children a new experience and it will give Dominic material for his portfolio.

Would any of you be interested in this? Maybe once or twice (or more) a month?

Allicat, you know I am at your beck and call, merely tell me where to be and a strapping Quidditch star will be provided for your needs.

I knew I could count on you!

Private to Oliver: 2nd year girl from Blackpool, lives with her Muggle aunt?

I'm steadfast as an ox, I am.

Allie

Shall do. What do I need to do?

That too.

Oliver
You need to get to Blackpool (I doubt it, but if you need a Portkey for that, let me know), meet Susannah Barnes at her aunt's house and Portkey from there to the nearest Floo (you will get both addresses when you pick up the portkey here). I will have arranged for a Floo exit as close to King's Cross as possible, and that's when the hard part of your job begins: You need to not lose sight of Susannah. She's a sweet girl, but she is curious and has a tendency to wander off. Get her through to the platform and safely onto the train. While you don't have to, I know from experience that the kids like when there are adults to wave to when the train leaves.

Still up for the challenge?

You can count on Oliver Wood to get the job done, Allicat.

Always have, always will!

How did it go with whatsherface?

And which whatsherface are we referring to?

Kate's friend that I had to shovel out of my flat via you popping round via floo and causing a ruckus? Naturally she hasn't responded to my apology owl, especially since I never sent one. I'm an awful person.

However, there is another whatsherface I'm ACTUALLY interested in, and we'll see how that goes.

We WERE referring to Kate's friend (which I'm glad you got out of there, and yes, you really are a horrible person), but then you brought up another whatsherface.

I'll allow you the secrecy for now, but you are aware that it'll only be so long before I'll want to know more, right?

I know I am, but at least I acknowledge it, so that's a step in the right direction, right?

For the record, I do know the name of the other girl. Have known it. I know her. And she's adorable. I just don't know if I want to jinx it yet by talking too much about it.

Right.

You shouldn't jinx it, which is why I'm allowing you the secrecy or discretion. Just so you know, I'm smiling right now, brightly, and I know you'll do great! Believing in you!

I'm sensing some mockery or judgement in your tone and I very much resent it.

Good. Because I sort of want to suss out how I feel and what exactly is happening before I sic the full force of the Gryffindor Legendary Quidditch Circle of Awesomeness on her. And also to save myself humiliation if/when she turns me down/crushes my ego to bits. But! At the moment I'm positive!

Thank you, Allicat. I believe in you too!

What tone? I'm using a standard black ink. It doesn't have any tone for you to resent!

She'd be a fool to turn you down and she'll be in big trouble (huge, really) if she crushes anything on you. Just saying.
