Journal - a happy thing
I'm so damned happy to have Tristan home again. I don't care what anyone says to me right now, I am so. Happy.

That's not a dare to say anything either.

I don't even care that I'm writing it here where everyone can see it. He's home.

[Several hours after Pandora's response]

Excellent.

I daresay I could.

Thank you, she can finally move enough to eat without tearing open the scars on her abdomen at the moment, so that's a great improvement.

Well that's good. You looked well the other day, or at least, the glamour you had over yourself looked good. I'm glad Tristan is home and well, and I'll have to see him soon. I think Susan has some sort of dinner planned, which I can conveniently not attend if it would make you more comfortable.

I'm fine, busy with the promotion. Also there's a woman who's trying to convince mother that I got her pregnant with "the heir to the Montgomery line" despite the fact that I've never met her in my life.

[the next morning, in weary looking, slightly crooked handwriting]

Regardless of what you seem to be implying, Peri, my well wishes for your colleague were well meant, so you needn't be overbearingly moralistic and guilt-inducing about it. I feel enough guilt over life already, thank you very much.

The glamour better look good -- I made it myself.

Attend if you wish. I won't know if I can attend or not, and it isn't avoidance but rather a queue of work projects I need to concentrate on. Besides, you've never had trouble ignoring avoiding me at a function before this, so please, do whatever you wish. You always do anyway

Make doubly sure she wasn't someone with a glamour before you discount her claims. It's happened before, though not in our direct line. Remember "cousin" Eustace? So do check. I'm sure Medea would be thrilled to finally have an heir to the House, especially from you.

[A day later, a few splotches of something... red (???) on the page]

I wasn't actually implying anything, Panda. I am happy that my friend didn't die and is beginning to recover from the lacerations on her stomach, sorry if that somehow offends you.

Have you met Susan Bones? I'm sure you've met Susan Bones. She would suffer neither you nor I 'avoiding' one another, especially since I think the invitations would only be to a few people. But really, it's fine. Tristan and Julian matter to you more than me or our family and I wouldn't want to be responsible for keeping you away from them.

Thanks for the advice, but seriously it would have to be an immaculate fucking conception as I've only slept with two people in the last nine months both of whom had penises so... Medea can go and boil her head in a fucking cauldron for all I care of what she thinks of me.

What the hell, Peri? Are you okay? Why is there blood on the journal?

It doesn't offend me, your tone offends me, you prat. You really are the master at being fucking infuriating. Somehow I'm not surprised that hasn't changed one whit.

Go ahead and attend; I just received another tent order and it's a rush, so I won't be able to make it anyway. And of course Tristan and Julian matter to me, they're my only family outside of Medea who give a flying leap off a cliff about me they're the only family outside of Medea who actually talk to me most days. Except Phillip, occasionally, and he'd deny it. You should spend time with them too. I'm not going to stop you from talking to whom you want, or they you.

Stranger things have happened. And you know Medea likes you a lot, and with Mum Eugenia, she carries the powers of authority for the family line.

Ah sorry Panda, my colleague spilt... I think it's tomato sauce on my journal? It begs the question of why he was going through it, but luckily he couldn't read past the runes.

Fine, whatever I don't care.

Probably my fault. Unintentionally of course. Some of your colleagues have been lurking. One of them even near my place. You might want to tell him he doesn't fit in muggle world as well as he thinks, a neighbor saw him and asked questions.

Also someone muttered that I looked too little to be doing the Muggle beatings and I managed not to punch them. Your welcome

I love you, you prat. Stop being so bloody difficult.

And please stop making me cry when I'm mad.

Really? Who? If it's who I think it is I may accidentally assign them a double stint on guard duty. Thank you for not punching them though, that would have just gotten you into trouble - as much as they might have deserved it.

Going back to Susan's thing, I think we might both be a bit premature - she hasn't even asked us yet.

And as for Medea, she didn't seem so keen on me when she found me kissing that Edward Selwyn when I was a lad did she?

They don't precisely give out names when they decide to be prats to me. But he's medium height and blond and a real arse. And I do have more common sense than that, but I can't make promises if he grabs my arm again or pulls a wand on me. There has to be a point where I'm not the one in the wrong here.

True. We'll see.

Yes, well, that's because she doesn't get an heir for the House when you're kissing men, darling.

Excellent, Smithers just earned himself six months on guard duty. I'll make a point of mentioning that you're not to be bothered unduly, and then possibly have Susan do it in a scary and unofficial manner. You've got nothing to do with the Muggle attacks, we know that for a fact. I'm so sorry for I'm sorry you were bothered.

Well there's always Philip, he seems to like women a lot well enough.

Oh, don't tell him I was involved. I'm not complaining to have you solve my problems, just letting you know why he was poking in your journal.

Yeah, I thought I'd already dealt with the first set of people asking me about that. I'd not do that.

You're the eldest, love.
