What the Book Halloween
Who: All kids and grown ups! (add your tags)
What: Halloween fun and games
Where: What the Book?, Monument Alley
When: Oct 31, 5pm - 8pm
Rating: SFW

The evening starts out at exactly 5pm, when children in costumes parade down Monument Alley, stopping outside several other shops that are participating for little treats. The parade ends back at What the Book? for the party. The store is all decked out for Halloween, and one of the rooms is set up as a haunted house, complete with a "gross-out" table (where kids are blindfolded and told to touch "eyeballs" and "brains", etc. There's also less scary things for the younger kids. Rolf's shop has provided a couple of owls to add atmosphere.

Throughout the evening are games (pin the face on the pumpkin, etc.), scary stories, and delicious treats (some from Sweet Nothings, others made by the bookstore cafe staff--pumpkin soup, "finger sandwiches" (hot dogs), etc.<) On display are Muggle ghost story books, some horror fiction, etc. Spooky music is also playing softly in the background. There are prizes given out, and every child will get a little bag with some candy, a book and a few other little Halloween treats.

Percy & Alicia & OPEN

Percy spotted Liam and Islan before he did Alicia. Lucy greeted them with squeals of joy, then between gross-out touchings, she showed off the wings of her winged horse costume which were charmed to flutter and flap in time to her movements, as well as a tail charmed to move back and forth. He didn't have to be within hearing range to know Lucy was asking the twins about their costumes, and as he highly suspected at least one of them had Muggle origins, he could already anticipate an argument with Allegra over the Muggle knowledge.

"Happy Hallowe'en," he replied with a nod. He looked down and lifted up the tie he was currently wearing, which featured a number of multicoloured automobiles, and winced. "Thankfully, today is the last day. You look lovely, by the way. How were the twins with the excitement?"

“Thank you,” Alicia smiled before her eyes dropped to Percy’s ties. “As multi-coloured ties go, that one’s not half-bad. You should see some of the ones my dad has that he claims are stylish,” she chuckled.

“The twins are loving it, loved getting to dress up for school rather than put on their uniform today, though Isla drove a hard bargain trying to convince me why I might be wrong in not allowing her to go there as Oliver Wood, so we settled on her getting to go as him tonight instead.” Nodding towards the children, her smile brightened when Lucy’s wings flapped and the tail swayed. “Lucy looks adorable tonight. Did you do her costume?”

"Thank you, but I believe that is a tie collection I can do without seeing myself," he replied with a touch of humour.

Percy nodded and refrained from speaking for a moment - the situation with Isla reminding him of his conversations with Alicia over Muggle schooling versus home-schooling. He would simply continue to hope that there would be no incident that would require the attention of obliviators for the Muggles in the school - though his eyes may have betrayed the thoughts in his head. At least now he was polite enough to keep his thoughts to himself.

"We had it made by Pandora Montgomery, and I'm quite pleased with the work she did. More importantly, Lucy is pleased." The fond look in his eyes showed just how much that mattered to him. "After here, we've one more stop before going home for the night. I need to pay up the last portion of my bet, after all."
