RP: Alicia and Harry
Who: Alicia and Harry
What: Meeting for coffee to discuss a potential future project
Where: Finnigan’s
When: 2 pm’ish
Rating: SFW

Alicia was running late, and she did not like running late. Granted, there hadn’t been a whole lot she could have done to make it to Finnigan’s any earlier, but that didn’t mean that she liked it any less. However, between superstitious players and children being children, that was just the way things were supposed to be today, she figured, as she entered Finnigan’s still wearing the standard Pride tracksuit – purple, of course, and complete with a gold star on the back, right under her name – and with the folder of information and ideas that had come up over the years when talk had fallen on a group home.

Not seeing Harry – though not putting too much stock in that, seeing as how the pub had plenty of blind angles – she ordered a pot of coffee and took another look around, this time looking more carefully to see if she could spot him.

Harry was also running late, but only by a few minutes. He'd been waylaid at the last moment by Savage to go over one of his reports, and he hadn't been able to get out of it. Luckily, it had just been routine and hadn't put him off track too much. As it was, he walked in just as Alicia was ordering.

He moved over to her, and tapped her on the shoulder since she was looking in the other direction. "You haven't been waiting long, have you?" he asked, after giving her a quick hug hello. "Come on, let's find a table before they're all taken."

They found one in the corner, and slid in across from each other. "So, how are you?"

At the tap on her shoulder, Alicia instinctively turned her head to see who it was only to end up doing an almost full turn around herself before she saw Harry. Immediately her face lit up in a smile as she accepted the hug hello and then shook her head. “No, I was running late myself,” she chuckled. “Good to see you, Harry. Glad you could make it.”

Sitting down across from Harry, she placed the folder next to her on the table. “Oh, I’m good,” she grinned. “With the raffle over and being more of a success than I’d ever imagined, there’s time to slow down a little again before Christmas. How about you?”

"It's good to see you too," he said, glad she hadn't been waiting on him indefinitely. He knew she was busy too, and hated to think he'd kept her waiting.

He shrugged. "I'm good. Work's been busy lately, and I've been trying to be more social and not the recluse Andromeda accuses me of wanting to become." He grinned sheepishly.

"So, let's talk about this idea you had."

Alicia quirked an eyebrow at Harry, amused, because she was rather familiar with that kind of accusations, except she hadn’t been the target of them, rather it was what she had been claiming about Adrian the past couple of years. And maybe she still did it. But only a little. Barely.

“Your idea, originally,” she chuckled and leaned forward, resting her elbows on the edge of the table as she rubbed her fingers against the palm of her hand, her smile fading slightly. “When you first mentioned it, I thought it would be a good idea, but it didn’t have to be right here and now, which was why I told you that I’d be interested to hear how things went. Unfortunately things have changed and though it’s only one boy at this point, he’s going to need a place to live when the school year ends.” She paused for a moment, her thoughts going to the fifth year boy who had been on her mind a lot the past month. “Preferably sooner than that, if it’s possible, but for now, he still has a legal guardian, at least. As for the idea I mentioned… have you considered using volunteer help for the remodelling, or would you prefer to do it yourself?”

He smiled sheepishly, but it had been his idea initially. He'd just been talking though, Alicia was the one with a workable plan it seemed. "I want to help however I can, and the house is just sitting there empty. I like to think Sirius would love the idea of it being used to help kids who need it." The thought of his godfather sent a slight pang of longing through him; it had been almost ten years but he still missed Sirius a lot, especially at times like this.

"I've done most of it myself, but not for any particular reason." He couldn't even explain it to himself, just that it had feel right at the time to undergo the renovations on his own as much as possible. "But it's at the point now where help would be welcome. There are some bigger renovations that I'm not equipped to do alone. I've taken care of all the, uh, unsavory aspects though. There shouldn't be anything dangerous left to deal with."

Alicia nodded; believing that you were doing something that would please someone you’d lost she understood. The whole Foundation was based on the idea that both Alicia and Mrs. Fawley knew Daniel well enough to know that he would want to help children less fortunate than his own.

“Well, some people do renovations for their own peace of mind, and if that was the case, then I would let you continue doing that,” she assured him before she drew in a deep breath and cleared her throat. “Most of your donations and your volunteering for the Foundation’s been anonymous, except for the raffle which, well, plays a big part in making this possible, but I’d like you to be part of this.” She held up her hand to hopefully save any objections for later. “It’s all new, all that we have is an agreement that we want to make it happen and that since it was your idea, since you have an idea of what kids like that needs we’d like you to be part of it. Whatever restoration is needed is easily taken care of, either through volunteer help of by hiring professionals, though if we could get professionals to donate their skills and time it’d of course be better, but it’s everything behind that that takes work.” She looked at him for a moment, before she continued to round off her sales pitch. “The project is yours, if you want it. You’ll have the Foundation’s support in any way, of course.”

"I guess that's how it started, but it doesn't need to be anymore." He appreciated that she was concerned for him, but in truth doing the renovations by himself had just sort of happened.

His eyes widened when she mentioned wanting him to be a part of this--publicly. Anonymity had been something he'd insisted on at the beginning, not wanting Rita Skeeter to be able to make anything out of his donations to the house. The last thing he'd wanted then, and now, was more poor orphan Harry stories. Or something worse. He was sure Rita could come up with something worse.

But he got what she was saying, and it made sense. When she was done, he sighed. "All right. We'll do it your way." He gave her a smile to let her know he wasn't upset. "I want to be a part of it, and it's time I stopped hiding." It took him another moment to realize what she was suggesting, and he blinked. "You want me to be in charge of it? I don't know anything about this sort of thing..."
