Journal: Roger Davies
Hello people! I just found this journal in the bottom of my Quidditch bag and I thought it was probably time I actually interacted with you all again. I just got back from a couple of days in Greece, helping my family prepare for an English wedding in the next few weeks, so that was interesting!

Here have a photo as I'm a git...

It was very hard as you can imagine.

How is everyone though? Who's keen to catch up and go to the pub?

[Warded to Marcus]
So... An eligible Frenchmen tried to woo me into bed the other day with promises of showing me "ze many interzting uses of chocolat in ze boudoir" which was hilarious. Obviously I need you to fend the randy French men off me Marc, will you do that for me?

[Warded to the friends of the warder / Warded against those who wish harm and gossipmongers]
So I've been looking into finding my dad, and I've come up with some interesting leads. I'm slightly terrified of going further with the whole thing, what do you think I should do?

That's gorgeous. Did you have a nice time?

Same Wards

If it's what you want, I say go for it. If I can help with anything, let me know. We Aurors have some tricks up our sleeves to find difficult people.

I did! My soon to be cousin-in-law (?) is not at all a bridezilla and it was really freaking my grandmother and the bride's mother out - they otherwise don't like one another at all - which in turn made them angry. Long story short, we kind of had to step in a bit as the wedding was in danger of being hijacked by two very angry women united only by their obsession with bright-coloured taffeta.

I may take you up on that Haz, you'd be useful to have around in that sense.

Would you mind me asking what the circumstances are of you looking for your father? I searched for my birth father a few years ago and don't want to advise or suggest one way or the other without a tiny bit more knowledge.

Not at all! Basically my mum's family was loaded and had a private pilot to fly them back and forth between Greece and the UK, and one particularly bumpy my twenty-one year old father (who was piloting the plane) got my mother pregnant, got fired, and fucked off back to the States. I'm just curious about him to be honest.

I grew up without my birth father too, although I had a stepdad from when I was fairly small, I knew almost nothing about my father for years. I only looked for him after the war because Mum hadn't liked to talk about him.

I think, given the circumstances, I'd say go for it. Finding out about him might not turn out well or how you think, but if you don't like him you don't have to contact him again.

My story had an okay ending. Not something I talk about much, but my father died not long after I was born. Death Eaters. But it doesn't look like he didn't want me.

Aw well it's good that you had a step-dad though, right? Unless he wasn't nice in which case not good at all.

I think the good thing is that I don't really have very high expectations of the situation. Absolutely best case scenario is that he talks to me, worst case is that he laughs and slams the door in my face. But yeah, I think I will go for it.

That's good in a way? Like at least he didn't just walk out? He... Yeah, I know what you mean mate.

Yeah, it was. My stepdad was amazing. I've called him Dad since he married my Mum, raised me as his own without lying about me being his. I mean the only thing I really missed out on was magic. Mum and Dad are both muggles and I was raised without magic, which I might have got if my father had been alive.

I wish you all the best with your search, and if you'd like to talk about it later on in the process feel free to drop me an owl or message.

And yes, I'm glad he didn't walk out. I mean he did, but talking with Mum we think it was probably to protect us during the first Voldemort war.

I was about to begin deciding whether it's better to have a father figure or magic growing up, but that seems stupid.

Thanks, I think I will do! It's nice to be able to talk to someone who was in the same boat.

Your dad? That's a big one, isn't it. If you find him and don't like him or find out he was a Death Eater or something, then it's really awkward! And if he's brilliant, then it would all be worth it, but what if he isn't, or he sort of is but is also a jerk in some ways?

What do you want to do? Only you can make the final decision on that, mate, but if there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

I think I should be fairly safe with him not being a Death Eater - he's an American Muggle from one of the square states, so the likelihood is quite small. I'm really just interested in seeing what sort of man he is, where he comes from, all that side of my family that I don't know about really.

Well, that's a good thing at least, about him not being a Death Eater. I can understand about wanting to see what kind of man he is - though however he is, it doesn't change the fact that you're a brilliant man yourself. It's just a shame he missed out on that.

Mm, gorgeous! So that's where that lovely tan of yours suddenly appeared from?

[Private to Roger]
I think it all depends on what it was you found, but you know that no matter what, you have our support, right?

Completely different topic, and technically I only promised not to ask Oliver about it, but... what's the deal with this Quigley bloke and why's Cho asking about him? What should I tell her?

Oi now, none of that! I'm always tanned. Ish. Tannedish. But yes, Greece. Very greasy.

[Private to Melina]
I just... Want to know where I come from I guess. What stuff did I inherit from him? Is he the reason I'm double jointed? Do I get my height from him? That type of stuff.

Ooooooher Fin Quigley. He's a well top lad who plays Quidditch and just moved here from Ireland after a very nasty breakup. From what I can gather from both Fin and Cho, they seem to be a bit taken with one another. I see gloriously grumpy babies in their future.

Tannedish? That sounds like a Mediterranean dessert... very greasy. Yes, you're always tanned, but you've been more tanned than usual.

[Private to Roger]
No, no, I understand why you want to find him, and if it were me, I'd want answers to all those things, too. I just meant that given the vagueness regarding which leads you had found, it's difficult to tell you what you should do - and you are under NO obligations to expand on the leads, love. So unless that it's that you'd be in mortal danger by finding him: all of the support and help you could possibly ask for.

See, now, all that is what I've been able to find out by reading the news, too. But is he good enough for her? And why would they have grumpy babies? Is he on the moody side too?
