RP: Dancing date
Who: Adrian & Alicia
What: Wingbeat date night.
Where: Wingbeat Dance Club
When: Saturday, October 18 - night
Status: Closed / Ongoing

Adrian waited outside the club for Alicia in a comfortable black t-shirt and jeans. The crowd had grown in just the few minutes he'd been waiting for her - having shown up early, not wanting to miss her in the crowd. Charlie Weasley had certainly seemed to strike a goldmine in the wizarding population.

He finished his cigarette and stamped it out, casting a quick freshening charm on his clothes, figuring his gorgeous date wouldn't want him smelling of stale smoke, and looked around again for her.

“Personal invitation.” Alicia shivered; Adrian’s purr, his warm breath against the shell of her ear and his hand on her hip – an obvious staking of his claim on her – did things to her that made her wish for a bit more privacy. But this was good, this was thrilling, this delaying and playing in public. “A drink is a good start,” Alicia laughed, feeling a slight victory in the fact that he hadn’t ruled it out completely and far from doubting her own ability to get him on the dance floor. She’d have to be subtle, she knew that, but contrary to popular belief, Gryffindors could do subtle and probably better than anyone because nobody expected it.

Her fingers caressed idly over the small of his back as he ordered for them, and when he slid onto the bar stool, she came to stand between his splayed knees. She sent a small wave and a smile at the bartender when he brought them their drinks, and took a sip of her sparkling white wine. “I am,” she told him with a small lick of her lips, her hips already moving under his hands as she leaned in to put her mouth by his ear. “You can either join me or watch me,” she purred and pressed soft kisses to his jaw, his cheek and finally his lips, before she danced away from him, her eyes still on his.

Alicia was, by no means, a musical genius, not like her mother and brother were and by the looks of it her son, too. Sure, she could play the guitar and the piano, but only because she had practiced for years. She hadn’t just – unlike them – been able to learn it just like that. That, however, didn’t mean that the music didn’t affect her. It did. Greatly. It made it hard for her to stand still, as she gave in to the rhythm, raising her arms as her hips swayed, she felt free. Free of the responsibilities that was her everyday life. It wasn’t unlike flying, except here she didn’t have to worry about crashing or causing herself injury that would lead to concerns about Isla and Liam. She felt like a 26 year old woman, not the widowed mother of two who took care of a team of Quidditch players and numerous charity cases. She laughed with delight that Adrian watching her made her feel admired and wanted and when she closed her eyes for a moment, she was sure she felt him approaching. The hands that grabbed her hips from behind had her freeze, though. She couldn’t see who was behind her, but she was certain that it wasn’t Adrian. The hands were too clammy, the fingers digging in too tight and as one hand slid to her backside, she knew without a doubt. Adrian would kiss her too deeply in public, sure, and he would say things in a purr that had her body reacting in ways that were better suited for the bedroom, but he would never touch her like this, even in a club. “Get your hands off my arse,” she growled, turning to face the wizard who indeed wasn’t Adrian, but still managed to keep a good hold on her arse. “Or I will make your arms forever half an inch too short to scratch the permanent itch I’ll apply to your private parts in 5-4-3-“ and just like that, as she had her wand out, the hand disappeared, though Alicia kept scowling at the git, the light feeling of dancing now gone in favour of the pouty feeling of having been interrupted like this.

With Alicia turned looking at the idiot who had grabbed her, she didn't see Adrian move smoothly through the crowd the moment he saw the moron's hand grope tightly. He stood over her shoulder and as she counted down the man's eyes widened at the murderous look on Adrian's face.

Don't get him wrong, Adrian had no question that Alicia could take care of herself, but there was something about someone putting his unwelcome hands on Alicia that Adrian ready to pull out his wand. Or throw a punch. As it was, Alicia's threats and the look Adrian gave that could make anyone cower had the man ducking away and muttering apologies as he clumsily slunk through the crowd from wherever he'd come from. Before she turned, Adrian put an arm around her middle and leaned in, whispering roughly in her ear over the music, "Watching you hex that idiot would have been a highlight of my life, sweetheart."

She didn’t know where he’d come from or when, but she recognised Adrian’s presence behind her when she felt his arm slip around her waist. “Mm, mm,” she murmured, shaking her head slightly even as she leaned back into his embrace. “That git doesn’t get to be part of any highlights in your life.” Though Adrian was most likely only there because he had seen what had happened, it didn’t escape Alicia that he was on the dancefloor, and he was holding her, so without really thinking she was moving again, albeit slower this time, as her fingers laced through his.

“We’ll have highlights,” she smirked, tilting her head up so she could almost see him over her shoulder. “And they’ll be even better than this would’ve been.”

Adrian grinned into her ear at her response. He loved that fire in her, even if it was the Gryffindor showing. When she started moving he couldn't help his natural response to following along, his body moving smoothly against hers. It wasn't that Adrian didn't know how to dance - he knew both the modern sense and the more traditional (which he'd already demonstrated to Alicia at Iris' ball) - but he was the last person to... Show off, he supposed. He didn't like the idea of people watching him do something. It's why he appreciated his time at potions work, solitary and quiet. The only people he even really let in on that, over the years, were his father, Draco, and he supposed Michael Corner, if you really pressed him.

Getting on a dance floor was just... the opposite of Adrian. But Alicia's body against and how obviously happy she was to have his arms around him, he moved with her and kissed her neck lightly. "Oh, now you must tell me about these highlights, what have you in mind for us, gorgeous?" His voice was still rough - the near-confrontation, the drink, the feel of Alicia against him - it was all there in his tone.

Adrian was a private person. That was one of the first things Alicia had learned about him, second only to him being a bit of a grump. But that was just the surface. Not that he was pretending to be either of those things, he was, but once you got past that there was a warm man who cared about the few people he let in and who’d had Alicia smiling more than she could remember the past several years. Right now was no exception. Adrian dancing with her like this in public was quite a bit outside his comfort zone, she figured, and though she would probably tease him a little – just a little – she wouldn’t object to him returning to his seat by the bar. For now, though, she would simply enjoy this.

“Oh, I must, must I?” she grinned, tilting her head just a little more to give him more room as he kissed her neck. Her chuckle turned into a content purr as she turned in his arms until she could loop her own around his neck. “What if I…” she said with a small, teasing smirk, her eyes dancing with joy as she looked at him, “… don’t have any specifics? Other than I’ve no plans of letting you go? That I want to have highlights better than this with you?” For all that they’d never talked about the future together, Alicia felt that they had one, that this wasn’t just a fling.
