RP: Relaxing in the Park
Who: Viktor, Harry, Teddy, Tsveta, and Misha (and others?)

What: play date

Where: the park

When: Wednesday October 15, afternoon when they’re both free?

Rating: SFW?

Viktor had taken a quick shower after practice and swung back by his place. Some days it felt like a massive juggling act, making sure he did his job and sepnt all the time he wanted and needed to spend with his children as well as sometimes get out to socialize properly so he didn’t turn completely into the hermit the papers sometimes accused him of being.

Play dates were a big lifesaver sometimes, though, even if it wasn’t always doing something he would choose for himself. Today, however, he was perfectly happy to relax at the park with the children and a friend. His upped training schedule took up more of his time than usual, but he really thought it was paying off. Either that or the threat of bringing in the reservists was paying off. Or both.

Viktor flopped, in as much as he ever flopped, onto the bench as Tsveta squealed and ran off with her toy broom. “Oy vey,” he said on a sigh, though his lips twitched into a smile Misha toddled back over towards him.

Viktor snorted and looked over at the children who were racing on their broomsticks. "You are completely right. She vould go looking for that. Some days I do not know where she would be sorted, if I decide on Hogwarts for them," he said with a shake of the head. Some days he would swear Slytherin, which didn't hold the negative connotations for him it did for so many, possibly because he'd made some good friends in Slytherin while he was at Hogwarts.

Viktor's lips pressed gently against the soft dark hair. He had always wanted children, but he hadn't expected them just yet; now he had two, and they made him very happy. Misha clapped and chattered in an unfortunate mish-mash of English and some combination of Romanian and Bulgarian. Viktor could understand him, but others sometimes had trouble. However, there was no misunderstanding the arm waving toward Harry. "Is the Aurory doing well for you?" he inquired curiously. "I do. I haff had to have extra practices all week, and it has been extra busy because of it," he said with a sigh, offering Misha to Harry when he didn't stop demanding a transfer.

"Other than that, not much. Had lunch vith Hermione the other week, but haven't been doing much else aside from the auction."

"So would Teddy, so it wouldn't be entirely her fault," Harry laughed, watching as Teddy zoomed around on the new broom. "I've tried to make sure Teddy knows that any House he ends up in is fine," Even, though it took some effort, Slytherin, "but I think he's got his heart set on Hufflepuff. Yellow's his favorite color, so that's got something to do with it." As if Teddy heard him, his hair went a bright, sunshiney yellow as his laughter floated over to the grown-ups.

Harry had no idea what Misha was saying, but he nodded anyway. There was no mistaking the way the baby reached his arms out, and when Viktor offered him over Harry took him gladly. Misha wrapped chubby little arms around his neck and started babbling away again. Since it didn't seem like the baby needed much more than a bounce and a kiss here and there for answer, Harry thought he was managing fairly well.

Viktor's question made him frown a bit, because he never really knew how to answer that question. "It's busy, and the work is usually rewarding, if frustrating." And sometimes downright depressing and heart-breaking, but that didn't have to be vocalized so much. "Why the extra practices? Or is it a trade secret?"

Harry wondered why Hermione hadn't mentioned lunch with Viktor to him, but they had both been very busy the past couple weeks. "You're lucky; I don't think Hermione has a lot of time for personal lunches during the work week. It's good you got her out." The mention of the auction made him wince; while it was for a very good cause Harry was dreading it. "Oh Merlin, don't remind me. I'm pretty sure I'll end up being 'won' by Rita Skeeter, or someone like her." He shuddered. "But it's for a good cause so I'll grin and bear it."

"Vell, his mother vas a Hufflepuff, yes?" Viktor inquired gently, knowing that the deaths of Teddy's parents were likely still a little sore given that he was at an age where he'd probably have a lot of questions. He knew Tsveta did at times, though she was more aware of her father, at least, than Teddy would have been. "Some days, I think she vould be Slytherin. Some days, Ravenclaw or even Gryffindor. I would vorry too much still if she were in Slytherin. They are not treated well still, I think."

"Sorry," he said with a grin as Misha hugged all over Harry. He was a very cuddly lad. "The joys of talking multiple languages at home. He'll get sorted out in a year or two."

Viktor nodded. "I am sure it is many times," he said. Many jobs could be, but he knew Aurors would even more so. "I hope you have plenty of time to, vhat is the word... decompress?" Viktor snorted softly. "No secret. Ve haff had several less than stellar games, especially vith our Chasers. So I put extra practices on the table and upped the practices for the reserves as well, for incentive."

He nodded. "Da, I know I am lucky," he said. He was always careful what to say about her. Some people thought he was over her; some would make other assumptions. He did not want Harry to think he had any nefarious purpose, though, and honestly he didn't. He'd never been anything but perfectly respectful since she'd decided to be with Ronald. "It vas very short, but it was nice to catch up a little."

Viktor smiled. "My publicist said it vas a good idea. I'm sure you'll get an enjoyable date, though. I am not thinking Skeeter would dare put in for you."

Harry smiled at the reminder of Tonks, and nodded. "She was, and Remus was a Gryffindor. I try to tell him as many stories about them as I can." It was an unfortunate fact that he didn't have many. Andromeda had more, of course, but Harry wished he had happier memories to share with Teddy than some of the ones he had. "I think it's hard to tell at their ages." Viktor had a point about Slytherin, and Harry shrugged uncomfortably. "I think it's better than when we were in school."

He waved away the apology. "He's fine. Energetic, isn't he?" Misha seemed to agree, and bounced in Harry's arms. "And the multiple languages will come in handy when he's older." There were times Harry wished he spoke something in addition to English; translation charms weren't always quick and reliable when you were questioning a suspect.

"I have plenty of chance to decompress," Harry assured Viktor. It was more a case of rarely taking that chance, time spent with Teddy notwithstanding. If he was left to his own devices at home, he usually ended up working on cold cases. "I'm sure they'll pay off. It's early in the season too, so there's plenty of time for improvement."

Harry wished he had Viktor's confidence in the auction, but he wasn't sure his luck was that good. He wouldn't back out though, the foundation meant too much to him. "I hope not. Hopefully she's too smart to try anything. She'd know it couldn't end well."

"That's always good," he said with a nod. "I tell Tsveta many as well. I do not know many of her mother, but of Mikhail, I can tell many." He had only met Tsveta's mother in passing, when he and Mikhail were still just teammates and friends. The pregnancy had not been intentional, and the two had not been committed to each other, but both had been planning on being committed to the baby, except she had died giving birth, something that still happened even in the wizarding world sometimes. "It is, but it is not as good as it could be either," he said. "But you are right, it is very hard to tell."

Viktor chuckled softly. "Very. I feel very old around him some days." Especially after a long day of practices, but he managed. He loved his family and even with all that energy, there was no place he'd rather be. "It will. Until he can understand to talk in just one at a time, though, it'll prove a challenge."

Viktor looked at him somewhat skeptically but didn't say anything further on that subject. A chance wasn't the same thing as doing, as he knew himself. "Very true," he agreed.

"Vith Hermione around? I do not think she vould dare," Viktor said. "Not to mention I do not think the Ministry vould look well on it."

"Yes, you're heading into old age, aren't you?" Harry teased, and the tone of his voice must have amused Misha because the baby burst into full-belly laughs. It made Harry laugh as well; baby chortles were addictive. "He'll get there. He's young yet."

He laughed again at Viktor's utter confidence in Hermione, though he hoped it wasn't out of place. "That's a very valid point," he agreed, though Skeeter's fear of Hermione had seemed to lessen over the years, if the drivel she continued to publish about Harry was anything to go by.

"So, what else have you been up to lately, aside from practice and kids?"

Viktor chuckled. "For the Quidditch world, I am headed up there," he said. In the next five years, barring a crippling injury, he'd have to seriously consider permanent retirement or coaching. He'd actually considering looking into coaching here when he moved, but in the end, he hadn't wanted to give up the game again quite yet. It was something his ex-wife had railed to him about upon finding out.

He had to smile as Misha laughed. His son was a cheerful baby, unlike what his mother said he had been, and Viktor always joyed to hear it. "He vill. He's a good boy."

Viktor snorted lightly, eyes seeking out the children on their brooms again. "I think that is my life, right now," he admitted. "I do not get out very much." Sometimes he missed it, sometimes he didn't. He knew he should start socializing a bit more, but he also liked his time with his family. "What about you? You been doing anything beyond Teddy and your job?"

"You've got the experience though; that's not to be discounted," Harry said, wondering if he'd hit on a nerve there. It was true that many considered Quidditch to be a young man's game, but there was something to be said about experience over youth. Viktor was still at the top of the league as far as Harry was concerned.

Harry kissed the baby's head, then handed him back to his father when Misha reached out to him. "He is. Very friendly." He wasn't sure if that was how all babies were, or just this one. Teddy had been rather more selective over who he let hold him when he was a very young child; it had taken Harry longer than he'd have liked to win him over.

"I know exactly what you mean," Harry agreed. "Between work, Teddy and working on Grimmauld place, I don't have a lot of time for much else." He liked it that way, and he did make time for his friends when he could. But he much preferred the quiet life to anything else. "And I'm taking in a match with Roger this weekend." He hoped very much he wasn't blushing. "We're going to cheer on Oliver."

"It does weigh out about even right now," Viktor conceded. It didn't keep the old man jokes from happening, but Viktor was decent at ignoring people when they were saying things he didn't like. He always had been.

He took Misha back easily, and then set him down, keeping a keen eye on him as he toddled around a bit, using some of that overly abundant energy so hopefully Viktor wouldn't have to chase and play quite all day like sometimes he did.

"Oh, well that's a definite plus," Viktor said with a nod. Heknew Roger through Quidditch of course, though not well like some. "I hope you all enjoy the match. Oliver always plays well."

"It's been awhile since I've made it to one, so it'll be a nice change of pace." That he was going with Roger made it even nicer, but he wasn't about to mention that at the moment. The last thing he needed was to make his unrequited crush common knowledge. "Oliver always puts on a good show, too."

He watched as Misha toddled a bit away, then stood watching as Teddy and Tsveta zoomed around on their brooms. The older children were shrieking with glee, but didn't seem to be in any immediate danger. The brooms had good protection charms on them.

"Did you konw there was a Wizarding museum? I'm heading there this weekend with Ernie, for our 'date'," he grinned ruefully at that. "I had no idea there was a Wizarding museum in Tutshill."

"Oliver does," Viktor agreed. Most players who had been on the circuit for a while knew that if you could put on a show and win, you drew a better crowd and more money. Viktor was good at it himself.

His gaze followed Harry's to the other children. "You know all I'm going to hear later is how nice his new broom is," Viktor said with dry humor. Not rhat he wasn't planning to get her a new one for Christmas, but still. Maybe this way he'd find oht exactly what she wanted though.

His eyebrows raised. "No, I hadn't known that. It could be interesting," he said. A museum might be a place to take Tsveta at least at some point. Always good to expose them to new things. "They obviously don't advertise particularly well." Which was a pity, likely. "Do you think you all vill enjoy yourselves?"

"I got Teddy's at the younger Wood's shop," Harry said. "Good price, excellent broom. It'll grow with him apparently, and the charms are guaranteed to last for life." So far, they'd had no issues with the broom, and the safety charms were impeccable. He trusted that they'd remain so for as long as Teddy used the broom.

He felt better that he wasn't the only one not to know about the Wizarding Museum. "Well, the main exhibit is on cauldrons, so I don't have much hope for that one. But there's an exhibit on wand lore as well, so that'll be slightly more interesting." He grinned. "Plus, Ernie is excellent company."
