Hello there everyone!! My name is Jinx, and I am bringing you Marcus Flint, Slytherin class of '94. He was a Death Eater during the war, though not by choice, and served four years in Azkaban before being released, and he now plays Chaser for the Appleby Arrows. Marcus is a rather quiet guy, though he's not quite as dumb as he lets some people think, with a competitive streak a mile wide. I am open to any plots or lines you'd like to throw at me, so please let me know if there's something you think he might be a good fit for.

Marcus' full profile can be found here, and I'm available by email at jinxed.dreams [at] gmail.com for plots or general discussions! I believe I've played with a few of you before, but I'm looking forward to writing with everyone!

Hermione is appalled that they let him out of Azkaban.

Blaise remembers him from school and will be friendly. He knows how easily it could have been him instead.

Marcus is not unaccustomed to eliciting that reaction out of people, I'm afraid, although obviously he doesn't agree with the sentiment. He'd still be polite though, if they happen to interact.

Friendly is always fun! Marcus doesn't hold any grudges against those who might have been in his shoes, though he's a little wistful he didn't get that sort of choice.

Hermione will likely cringe and be very short. She doesn't relish those interactions at all. Nothing personal.

Blaise was fortunate enough that his dad died leaving no real influence to push him that way.

Hi Jinx, I'm Caroline and Dean is my only character right now.

He works in the pub, otherwise he'd probably avoid Marcus like the plague/a blast-ended screwt. He can politely serve him his limit of drinks if he happens to be working.

Hi Caroline! Marcus isn't much of a drinker, but when he does in sure he'll be polite.

Hello! So glad you could join us.

You already know Lucy, more or less. I moved her family's home to Sheffield and gave her an extra sister. She isn't back in the magical world yet, she's working for a muggle charity in London.

Seamus I imagine would know Marcus from the pub. He tries not to judge, there's at least one other Slytherin in Battlescars. He probably took a while to work up his courage and then made it clear to Marcus that he was welcome, but didn't push (Marcus is still tall and scary enough not to want to get on his bad side).

Dominic is also around the bar a lot. He likes to watch Quidditch sometimes, too, so there's that. He could definitely help introduce Marcus to muggle things.

Aand we have a lot of tattooed folk around. Off the top of my head: Susan, Seamus, Ali, Roger, Ernie. I may have missed some/one/several.

No Orla, sadly (I loved them so much!) but I am thinking of bringing in Greg Goyle if you want to talk about that.

Hi again! Thanks for the welcome, I'm happy to be here!

Yay Lucy! Marcus will be ppl tie as ever if they happen to come across one another.

He probably appreciated the welcome from Seamus, though he's rather accustomed to people being intimidated by his physical size.

And Marcus will talk Quidditch with anyone who wants to start that conversation, so I'd imagine he and Dominic would get along.

I am sad there's no Orla, but I'm more than happy to talk about Greg!

Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Dylan bringing Susan Bones and Roger Davies.

Susan: she'd be intially cautious of Marcus - her work as an Auror meaning that she'd probably know his history a little bit. Plus, there's the whole thing with most of her family being killed by Death Eaters. But, she's open minded, and is a strong believer in second chances, so she would probably suck it up and try and make friends with him? She seems to collect friends that came out of the war worse for wear.

Roger: He's actually a chaser for Appleby too and he tries to be friendly with everyone, so (depending on you) I think it would be cool if they were friends? Roger can be a bit of a flirt and a romantic, and would probably be a bit attracted to Marcus but otherwise definitely interested in friendship with a brother chaser! He'd be interested in helping with the whole tattoo thing.

Hi Dylan, thanks for the welcome!

I think Susan and Marcus would be very interesting to see interact, given their respective histories.

Yay for a teammate! I'm definitely down for friends, though Marcus is incredibly awkward when someone tries to flirt with him, so that could be interesting as well.

I think Susan and Marcus would be great actually! Because she has the whole I SHALL AVENGE thing combined with hardcore Hufflepuff fairness and treating others well mentality, so they could end up being weird friends?

Oooh awkward reactions to flirting, I love it! I imagine they'd have to spend a fair bit of time together and eventually Roger would probably twig onto something?

Interesting plottings to be had!

Hi Jinx! I'm Jess, and I have 3 characters of varying interest to Marcus:

Lisa Turpin: Muggleborn Ravenclaw in Harry's year. She spent the last six years in Muggle San Francisco and has just come back to the Wizarding world. Doesn't remember him (she was never that into Quidditch at Hogwarts, and is several years younger than him). She'd be friendly enough, but if she knew about his DE ties she'd be standoffish.

Harry Potter: Not a fan of Marcus, though that might depend on how much he knows about the circumstances behind Marcus' DE activity and incarceration.

Pansy Parkinson: She rather likes Marcus, and will probably attempt to set him up with Theo (should she ever know about his preferences). Marcus is a much better match than that fluffy Hufflepuff Macmillan.

Hello Jess, nice to meet you!

I'm not yet sure how he'd react to Lisa, though I'm more than happy to throw them together and see what happens!

Marcus might stay clear of Harry simply because of his reputation and Marcus' own history, since he's not very vocal on exactly why he joined the Death Eaters beyond fearing for his life if he didn't. Still, it might be worthwhile to see what happens, if you're up for it.

As for Pansy, I think they'd get along just fine, and if they've been friends for a while she's more than welcome to have figured him out, though he might not have admitted to it. I think it's be hysterical to see her try and set him up, though he would probably be at least somewhat resistant.

Hi Jinx

T'is Kat, again, and I'm thrilled to have you here. For now, I have two girls here, Alicia (whom you may begin to recognise, though she's here in yet another variety) and Melinda Bobbin (again, a recognizable name, with some similarities, but mostly differences).

Alicia - still a single mum, tough this time she's widowed and it's twins. She married a Pureblood and he was killed towards the end of the war, which led to the founding of The Daniel Fawley Foundation. She still goes by Spinnet, though and splits her work hours between the foundation and being a Healer for Pride of Portree. I'm not sure she'll be overly fond of Marcus, however, her view on people have changed quite a bit (she's close friends with Adrian Pucey, for one) so who knows?

Melinda ([info]_melinda_) - Ravenclaw, 3 years younger than Marcus, owns and runs Monument Alley's pâtisserie, Sweet Nothings, with her mother. She is as sweet as the cakes and desserts she makes, and while she's not particularly interested in Quidditch (she will cheer for the team her surroundings are cheering for) she's not clueless about it either. If she's uncomfortable about Marcus being around, she will not let it show, but instead be the epitome of polite sweetness.

Great to have you and Marcus in the game!

Hi Kat, good to see you again!

I do recognize both your kids, and Marcus' sweet tooth is very interested in Melinda's shop, so I'm sure he'll wander in at some point. He'll probably be cordial with Alicia if they run into one another, though if it's for a Healing reason of any variety he'll probably be a little grumpy.

I look forward to writing with you again!!

He's always welcome in Sweet Nothings, and who knows? At some point there might even be a menu made for that place. Healing Marcus may be one of the few times Alicia won't care who she's dealing with: she'll be kind and professional in that instance, but then again, she's used to grumpy Quidditch players and I believe she may have compared them to pregnant women at some point.

Hee, yep, it should happen. Mass broom crash during a Pride vs Appleby match? I kinda imagine that in a situation like that the Healers aren'too concerned about which team's players they're patching up.

Hello Jinx! I'm Sarah and I have three here at the moment (though I am working on a 4th that I hope to finish him tonight), and I'm excited to see Marcus join! Just fyi, I love plotting OOC, and feel free to poke me any time even just to say hi! My AIM is oliverwoodwood and my email is rogerlovr at yahoo.com.

SO anyway, moving on to my kiddos!

This journal is Astoria Greengrass, who is Slytherin class of 2000. She's a designer for Twilfit & Tattings in Diagon Alley, and an occasional column in Witch Weekly on fashion and muggle fashion information for those trying to blend in. She's engaged to Draco Malfoy, and they are planning on a Valentine's Day wedding. She would likely have known Marcus a bit from pureblood circles growing up, but he's a lot older so they wouldn't know each other THAT well, unless he was a customer at the shop? She's very into proper behavior, and she's a little slow to open up unless she's been properly introduced, but otherwise she's kind and conscientious.

Second is Megan Stewart, formerly Megan Jones [info]hotcrossed. Megan is the owner of Hot Crossed Buns, a lingerie and perfume store in Monument Alley. Megan is a Hufflepuff, would have been class of 1998, but she did not finish. After the battle she went to the muggle world and worked in a lingerie store for a while, which is where the idea for her store came from. Megan is very very friendly and chatty and will talk to anyone, but that's a bit of a mask for her incredible insecurity. She's married to a man 30 years her senior, and while she on the outside projects that everything is hunky dory, though it's not a very fulfilling one (she daydreams about an affair). She would probably be willing to talk to him, though would be intimidated by the fact that he was in Azkaban. A lot of her best friends were DA folk, but she wasn't, though she'll talk to anyone, really.

Finally is my (currently) only boy, Oliver Wood [info]oliverwoodwood, Gryffindor class of 1994, former Quidditch captain, and currently Keeper for Puddlemere United. Oliver is kinda a bull in a china shop. He's loud and boisterous and loves to joke about, but he tends to be passionate about things and love with his whole heart. However, he has foot in mouth disease and often says and does stupid things without thinking them through. He's terrible at romantic relationships, but he's a romantic at heart and loves to flirt and loves the ladies in general. He would remember Flint from quidditch, and their current rivals, and I'd love if they had a banter-filled relationship. He probably still wouldn't have him as a close friend because he was a DE, but if he knew he didn't have much choice, he would have no problem having friendly banter/rivalry more. Open to what you think!

Welcome, and I'm glad to see you and Marcus here!!

Hi Sarah, and thank you for the welcome!

I agree that Marcus probably would have at least known Astoria socially, though the age difference makes it a little more difficult for them to have really connected. I have a feeling they'd being extremely proper in their interactions, at least until they can establish something more than the superficial.

Marcus is perfectly willing to carry on a conversation with Megan, but he probably won't start it himself. The intimidation factor is something he's gotten used to, and he doesn't let it bother him anymore, and just tries to get past it as best he can.

Oh Oliver. I'm totally okay with a banter-filled friendly rivalry - I imagine one that's not actually terribly serious but that the press likes to play up whenever their teams meet?

Thanks again! I look forward to writing with you!

That makes sense. Though Astoria is patient and kind, much more so than some would give her credit for, so there IS that. She would be willing to meet with it over time and maybe they could build up something like friendship. She understands being misunderstood ;) Though if he's friends with Pansy, she would avoid talking about her AT ALL. lol

Oh no problem there, she'll start a convo with ANYONE, so randoms are totally possible!

haha that's exactly what I was thinking. And maybe occasionally they meet up, get drunk, eat crisps and talk about life.

Same here :D

That sounds wonderful to me! And Marcus knows better than to mention Pansy in Astoria's company or vice versa.

Randoms are fun, so bring them on!!

Maybe they can sometimes watch Quidditch matches that neither of them are playing in and do running commentary on them? Marcus isn't much of a drinker but that doesn't stop him from associating with people do, and he doesn't judge - it's just not for him.

Yay Flint! (And Paul Wesley!)

Adrian is happy to see his Housemate out and about again and doesn't judge him at all for his time in the war. Adrian has his own demons to worry about when it comes to that, so, you know. Adrian was class of '96 Slytherin and they were on the team together, so I'd love for them to be friends!

Cho is probably afraid of Flint but could easily be swayed to thinking he's still scary but rather hot.

Mac probably hardly remembers him from school and had little to do with the war, so I doubt they'd know each other from before, but anytime Flint needs high-range quidditch equipment, he's your man!

Marcus and Adrian can absolutely be friends! Obviously they were at school together, but possibly they knew each other prior to that as well?

Honestly, he's rather given up trying to actively convince people he isn't scary or intimidating, even if it does still irritate him slightly.

He's all about Quidditch, so that could definitely be something to jump start a conversation!

Yes! Sera Pucey was a Ravenclaw in Flints year (she's the only non-Slytherin in the family), and I'd imagine the Flints and Puceys have known each other for quite a while.

Hey! I love Marcus and am tickled to see him in play.

Gemma: would know of him and maybe vice-versa. THey look to be the same age but were in different years, both Slytherins, but she's half-blooded. If Marcus enjoys the less legal side of things, him and Gemma might have some things in common.

Percy: Knows of Marcus from quidditch and has liely heard far too much about him from Oliver ;) Has Marcus ever done anything that would be worthy of Percy's point-taking? I always imagined great animosity between them, but am up for whatever plottage you're up for.

Ernie: Would be polite, but as long as that tattoo is there, Ernie would totally always be on guard around him, just in case.

Hi Jinx! I'm Lis and I think we might have played together in the past, but I'm not sure/can't remember off the top of my head. Your name looks familiar, however. I have two people here and am always up for plotting.

Hannah Abbott (this journal) - She is a midwife-healer at a clinic in Monument Alley. So even though she's all light-leaning and Dumbledore's Army!yay! I think she would be friendly with Marcus. She doesn't tend to hold grudges unless he did something to physically harm one of her friends. Then it's on like Donkey Kong.

Logan Wood([info]errordynamic) - He's Oliver's younger brother, Ravenclaw 1999. Somehow I doubt there is a whole lot of love lost there. He is an independent broommaker not affliated with one of the large companies and works at/for/oversees the Monument Alley branch of Bludgers and Broomsticks, headquartered in Hogsmeade. Still, Logan might just be willing to make a broom for Marcus if he ever wanted one.
