Bryony
So, having a week off is clearly dangerous because I'm presenting my fifth (and last, I swear) character: Susanna Bryony Capper. Anick, Kat and Jinx will remember her from when she was Orla Quirke, but her backstory has changed a little since then.

- For a start, she's a Capper now. The Cappers are purebloods but not purists (though Bryony's mother Iris was an Avery before she married, so...) and they're known for being eccentrically old-fashioned. Bryony's father Ephron Capper is a historian who's written books so academic characters may know the name. Bryony has some very old-fashioned manners which may seem weird to more modern types.
- Bryony was two years younger than the trio, Ravenclaw. She was in school for PoA and GoF, then got taken out of school because she has protective (read: suffocating) parents. She was back for DH because it was compulsory and then for a further two years after that. Her family made it very clear they thought Ravenclaw was Not Good Enough and Bryony was too much of a doormat to stand up for herself so she went along with it when her sister tried to force her to make friends with Slytherins instead.
- Despite a six year age difference she spent most of her life certain she'd eventually marry Marcus Flint. Characters who were at school during DH will definitely be aware of this as the Carrows made a big deal of it, alternately telling her she wasn't good enough for their nephew and excusing her from punishment because of her 'connections'. Bryony felt guilty about it, but there wasn't a lot she could do.
- Characters with any connection to the pureblood world will likely know that that engagement fell through, though they may not know exactly why.
- She's currently living with her aunt Hecuba and her cats, working as an apprentice under the artist Dean also apprenticed under.
- Oh, she's quidditch obsessed but it's a secret because it's not appropriate for a lady to attend quidditch matches (according to her mother).
- She's overweight and ashamed of it but can't seem to fix it.

In terms of future plots, Bryony needs some friends! She will be starstruck around Quidditch players! Her mother's pushing her to date so awkward arranged dinners with pureblood lads! She needs to practice her portraits, if anyone wants to be sketched or painted. She'll also be approaching the leaders of various activities (Lavender/duelling club, Vee/yoga and Ginny/dance) to ask if she can sit in on a session and sketch. Anyone who hurts her will have Marcus to deal with ;-)

Her info is here and it's somehow even longer than this post already is.

She is in Rolf's year and so I'm sure they know each other. How much is up to you, but he was very friendly and helpful and nice. Also her parents and his grandparents might socialise? His grandmother has been making matchmaking noises lately too. He's rather besotted with his best friend Rose, but that doesn't mean they might not be forced into an awkward dinner. He's willing to be a friend as well. Up for anything really. (Haven't time to read her full sheet right now but might reply more later)

Yay year mates! Yes, Rolf's grandparents and her father are both in academia, though in different fields, but they probably respect one another? And as such, Rolf was probably someone she was allowed to socialise with at school. So friendlyish, certainly.

Though Bryony may feel bad that Rolf was standing up for being during DH and she was being spared.

Sounds good. I'd offer his parents but they're so rarely around, while his grandparents are pretty firmly here anymore.

Awww yeah. You can't help some things though. He felt bad she was singled out a bit.

Dean wants to be friends with the new apprentice! Although if he's busy he might ask her to get coffee. Once she's not exploding the paint base too much he might ask her to make some, but she's totally welcome to quiz him about portraits, although probably wary of her coming into his studio too often. He could also have been the one to suggest the pub to her if you like.

Charlie... might know the name but he's mostly the wrong sort of pureblood to care or be set up with her. Most likely interaction is going to be random I think, unless she's suddenly going to the club.

Dean can be friends with her! Well, getting there anyway, she doesn't make friends easily, but she will be only too happy to get coffee and do paint bases. She got an NEWT in potions, so she should be okay about that kind of work. She'll stick mostly to Braith's area of the studio unless delivering caffeine.

Charlie might be a tad old to be set up with her, too. I don't think she'll be a frequent visitor to the pub. Not enough light to paint in.

Hooray becoming friends and someone more competent at potions!

As well as old, which I meant to say I don't think the former profession of scars and leg are in his favour either.

Pft. Iris doesn't care what he looks like. And I imagine Ephron as being older than Iris by quite a lot so he can't complain.

(Also, Bryony shyly thinks working with dragons is really exciting!)

Aww, Orla Bryony. She's still tugging at all the protective feels here.

Lessee, Alicia might not know her, unless there's been some gathering of the Fawleys and Cappers, but she's still ready to help her out with anything (maybe even go somewhere in the Muggle world?).

Melinda, same house, 3 years older, and I remember poor Orla feeling bad about that Melinda's creations. She's still sweet, though, and won't push, and will be of help with anything in the dessert and cake area, even if it doesn't involve sugar.

Rose, however... now there might be something. Her parents (Aaron Mark and Mihaela Lilliana Zeller (nee Dumitrescu) ) are fanatical about history and Mihaela is Romanian Pureblood and the daughter of a diplomat, so yes, Rose would at least know of Bryony's father, perhaps there's even been some collaboration between the parents, idk. Rose likes to sketch too, and if Bryony is being set up with Rolf, Rose will want to check her out for certain, even though she claims not to be possessive.

:)

Hm. Depending on how much you think healers are publicised, Bryony might know Alicia by name. She still follows quidditch obsessively. And the Fawleys and Cappers might know one another vaguely, since neither family is DE/purist related.

Yup, she's still going to be equally tantalised and guilty about eating Melinda's things. That won't always keep her out, though.

Lol. I like all this Rose potential! Some collaboration would be interesting, and they can bond of sketching. And Rose can check out Bryony while Marcus checks out Rolf.

Heh. I honestly haven't a clue if healers are publicised or not, so I guess the healers are only really known by the players?

Yay! Well, she's always welcome, of course, even if only to look or talk :)

I know! I love it too. Bryony knowing Rose's family could be reason for some anxiety on Rose's behalf, considering she's avoided them since her 14th birthday. Officially that doesn't bother her, which is probably what Bryony will know too, but it really does, and that's what people like Rolf and Eddie knows, so there is something there that could lead to a friendship of sorts? Rose will be checking out BOTH Bryony and Marcus ;)

I don't need to tell you how excited Marcus is to see Bryony :) Obviosuly, he's very happy to have his best friend around, and anyone who so much as looks at her funny will have to deal with a very grumpy Flint.

His updated history with all it's mentions of her will be up soonish.

We so need to plot some reason for protective Marcus, even if I need to involve an NPC to do it.

Also, looking forward to it :-)

People keep on saying they want to see this side of him lol. He's not a fan of how he gets when he's angry (wow, did I just make him sound like the Hulk? Not intentional, though kind of a good comparison?)

I will get there, it's just slow going right now. Hopefully tomorrow night I'll actually have time to sit down and work on it (and Stacey lol).

He wouldn't have to get angry. He could be all knight-in-shining-armour saving her from danger/social embarrassment.

Harry - Probably doesn't remember her, but would be nice
Lisa - Might not remember her, but would be nice too
Ben - Doesn't know her, would be nice
Terry - I don't know if he'd remember her or not...probably vaguely? He'd be nice though!
Pansy - I think because of the connection to Marcus, and general Pureblood circles, Pansy would know Byrony and oddly enough, she falls under the people Pansy views has Hers To Be Protected (again because of the connection to Marcus?) IDK IDK we should chat about these two, yes we should.

Harry - still a little in awe of him (she still hasn't seen many other people flying to compare it to).
Lisa - she'll probably come into the shop looking for books.
Ben - *blush, stammer* One butterbeer please.
Terry - She'll know OF him, certainly. He was traded to the bats semi-recently, right? So he'd have missed out on Rowan Capper playing for them, but might still know of him as fellow pro-quidditch player.
Pansy - We should definitely talk!

I definitely remember the PB!! But yeah, I don't think either of my characters would know her unless she's one of those lovely ladies what Neville's Gran tried to set him up with.

She could be. It would have been fairly obvious that while she was very polite, she had no actual interest in a marriage arranged for her by her mother.

Hey! I really like Bryony and can't wait to see what you've got in store for her!

Ernie: Can feel her on many things. He's not as chubby as he used to be but is still on the stout side, and hates seeing wonderful people down on themselves. He could definitely introduce her to fruity drinks, since he loves them more than beer or whiskey. Just sayin' ;)

Percy: Probably hasn't met her yet, though am always up for them meeting! If she needs a job, Percy's always looking for talented bureaucrats ;)

Gemma: Loves women of all shapes and sizes and thinks men are morons for passing up women who may not quite fit the 'standard'. She'd be happy to give Bryony some tips if she's ever in need.

Vee: Would be happy to have her in his class. He cares a little more about a person's willingness to explore the spiritual side of yoga than what they look like in their workout clothes, so Bryony is more than welcome ;)

Thank you! I kind of love her too.

Bryony and fruity drinks needs to happen. And she might have anatomy questions for Ernie to help with her sketching (or for book recommendations about anatomy, that might be less embarrassing.)

She's happy with her current apprenticeship, but if he found out about her Quidditch obsession somehow they could geek out about Quidditch.

As for Gemma, I would love to see how that would go! Maybe Bryony's mother could set up an appointment for her for a facial or a manicure or something else Bryony would never think to set up for herself.

Bryony cares about how people look in their workout clothes, but not from a judgemental/sexual perspective. She just wants to draw them. If Vee's happy to let her sit in and watch/sketch a few times she might get drawn in to the spiritual side. (Also their first meeting should be while Vee is dressed for yoga - just for the hilarious blushing and not knowing where to look factor.)

Ernie: Would be happy to do all of the above - hell, he'd probably half-jokingly offer to pose for her, so beware ;)

Percy: Yay to geeking out over quidditch!

Gemma: Her mother totally should! Be prepared, I haven't played her in a thread at the salon yet, but Gemma's the type who'll call her clients all kinds of complimentary things like darling, sweetheart, gorgeous, which would probably be strange for Bryony from how you've described her - maybe give her some cognitive dissonance ;)

Vee: Sounds perfect to me - Vee would of course give a caveat that it's okay with him as long as it's okay with the members of his class, but if there's trouble with that, he'd offer to let her watch him in a private session after having a chat with her (I have this image of him asking her questions, seeing that her art is a sort of spirituality for her, and that's when he'd offer to schedule time one on one).

As long as this posing is clothed, Bryony would be really happy with that!

Maybe a spa trip pre-awkward date. I think that would be amusing.

And of course, she wouldn't draw anyone who objected, but she could sit in and just sketch him, if it wouldn't distract him from teaching. Also, I think him respecting her art would be totally good for her. I imagine the list of people who've seen it and appreciate it probably currently consists of her father, Marcus and Braith.

Hey quick drop in between crazy.

Blaise would know of her and might know what happened if Marcus told him but if not then he wouldn't.

Hermione likely doesn't know her but will be polite.

Marietta might remember her from school but didn't ever really branch out toward younger students unless she had a reason.

Up to Jinx whether Marcus would have told Blaise, but at the very least I'd imagine he knew they were 'engaged' (or promised to be engaged, it was never quite official) and that evidently that marriage never came to pass.

Bryony was only at school with Marietta for two years, I think, so it's entirely possibly they don't remember one another, but there's always random encounters :-)

Yeah, poor Mari is shy as all get out it's going to have to be something totally random.
