Friday Fun!
Okay, it's been a while and to kick off the October activity period (and hopefully rejuvinate things a little) I thought we'd have a little Friday Fun in the form of an OOC ideas / plot / general chat post.

Mainly, my questions are these:

-Do you have any fun ideas for Halloween?
-Do you have any fun ideas for Christmas?
-What do you / your characters want to happen in 2016?
-Do you have any concerns you'd like to bring to my attention?

I'm thinking of having some kind of Secret Santa / Secret 'acts of kindness' event for the month of December if that sounds good to people. I'd like to get characters involved - even those who wouldn't usually put themselves forward to be kind. Thoughts on how best to do that will be gratefully received.

	I know Wingbeat will be hosting something Halloween-y with Halloween themed cocktails. Would a costume competition be fun? Or grown up trick-or-treating with the shops giving out items for goodie bags? Another George Weasley prank? Or maybe something scarier. A ghost gathering in Monument Alley? There must be some interesting ghosts from the street's past. (Reply to this) (Thread)

A ghost gathering in Monument Alley sounds like it could be fun to play with.

I know that there's been talk of how to get characters trapped with other characters to mix up the connections and create new ones, and maybe a ghost gathering like that could be the catalyst for that? I'm just thinking aloud here, so nothing concrete and it's all really just suggestions, but a night like Halloween, where the veil between the worlds are supposedly thinner it wouldn't be too far a stretch if that messed with some of the magic?

And if combined with grown-up trick or treating, it would draw quite the crowd to Monument Alley, while leaving the kids at home :D

Yes Wingbeat will be getting all decked out with suitably Halloween and Samhain type things. Genie has been primed for making special cocktails. There might be a reward/money off drinks for costumed people. I wasn't planning a competition though so that's open for anyone to run if they want to.

I like some sort of grown up trick-or-treating idea. Not sure how it'd work but I like it.

As I mentioned above, some kind of Secret Santa / Secret 'acts of kindness' or maybe a 'pay it forward' kind of system. Basically, Secret Santa is great but it doesn't really generate interaction or threads. I thought acts of kindness might be a way to encourage characters to interact with others that they wouldn't usually.

Maybe Hogwarts could host some kind of Christmas reunion during the school holidays? Or Hogsmeade could do... something.

I know December is often a busy time for people, and I did an activity amnesty last year, but on the other hand it would be nice to have an excuse to write Christmassy things.

	You know that I love the Secret Santa thing :D However, in the spirit of generating interactions, how about a not-Secret Santa? Where instead of getting a secret present for someone, you are to bring Christmas cheer to the person you're assigned to. Or something else. Something that you have to do in person? That's kind of what I was thinking with the acts of kindness thing, though you make an excellent point that it would be hard to keep that secret (not impossible, but certainly more challenging).

What do you* think of maybe making it a house competition with the winning house getting some kind of discount at Finnigan's, or getting free use of the upstairs room decorated however they'd like by Dominic for an evening or something.

	2006 is also a Quidditch World Cup year, so maybe some of the professional players will be affected by that? Other than that, I currently don't have any game-wide plans/wishes, solely character related :/ That might change, though. (Reply to this) (Parent)

	Mostly just I need some way to make more connections, as I'm feeling rather adrift now that I've lost a lot of connections. I'm having trouble making my minimums largely because of that and feeling depressed (mostly not really related to this comm, just... in general). (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I'm well. I had to take Clay to the ER yesterday (Thursday) due to on-going chest pains. We initially went to his PCP but they sent him to ER. As far as we know, he's okay but has to follow up with a cardiologist. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Well, I'm still job hunting, but have gotten an internship in the office of a public business that makes food/lunches for schools and nurseries in the area. And I'm loving it. I finished my initial 4 weeks today, and yesterday I was prolonged another 4 weeks (5, since one of the weeks is fall break). (Reply to this) (Parent)

	I was fired from work because of my chronic headaches and now I'm going through the appeal system, trying to sort my benefits income out, still trying to find out why I'm getting headaches and also trying not to spontaneously combust under the stress. (Reply to this) (Parent)

Been a tad scarce myself.

We're gearing up to do the next 5-year remodel at the hotel, starting in (hopefully) January. No pressure... our biggest week of the year is the Master's Tournament in nearby Augusta, GA the first week in April. Blueprints, flow charts, and purchase orders haunt me in my sleep.

Going to try to be more visible and active between now and the New Year just to give me something to keep my mind slightly more stable. Even considered dusting off my Bad Girl because anything worth doing is worth overdoing.

Really feel for you folks having trouble finding work. Our problem here in South Carolina is finding people who a)Aren't afraid to work. b)Won't burst into tears and walk out when the pressure ramps up like it can in the hospitality industry.

	I'm in a dead end job and can't get anywhere, and I am trying to find another job, which is very very very stressful (and so far not going anywhere). I've been too busy, and I have an absurdly large fic that I need to finish writing. Which sounds like a bunch of excuses, I know, but... sigh. However I would like some puzzles.
