    Welcome!
Welcome to Finish That Fic. I made a bit of a note in the userinfo about what this community is about. Basically, it's a sort of small writing group for fanfiction writers. It was founded when I was looking at my list of fic ideas, and my unfinished writing pile, and I started thinking to myself: 'Self, you've written nearly 100,000 words for three successive NaNoWriMos. Why have you been working on the same fic for three years, and barely cracked 10,000 words? You like the idea, and you still want to write the fic.'

And, I replied to myself, 'Well, it's because with the NaNos, I had people to talk to and a deadline. I wouldn't want to try and write 50,000 words every month, but something a bit more reasonable. Like jogging a half-hour every day versus marathon training.'

So, I asked a few friends if they were in the same boat (they were) and poked around to see which journaling service to use, and here we are.

I was thinking that doing introductions might be in order. Mostly, it might be nice to learn who's in the community, what fandoms they work in, and what fics they are trying to get done. I'll put mine up later today or tomorrow. (ETA: And [info]yuuo got hers up before I finished. And showed me that I forgot to set this community to my friendslist.)

I was also looking for a kind of suggestion as to setting writing goals -- maybe a chapter/short fic every two weeks or month. What would folks find reasonable? I want something that people won't rush at the end of the month to finish, but also something that's doable at something other than NaNo pace. I also find it a bit easier to work in chapters/fics, rather than in thousands of words -- though it wouldn't be much of a challenge for drabble/flashfiction writers.

Also, I'd like to keep this small, so I'm probably going to keep this word-of-mouth to friends. So, probably no ad to [info]asylum_promo. Mentioning it to friends is fine, though.
