Wonderland group PSL
I've started a group PSL with a few friends, and we're looking for additional players! The current cast are the March Hare, the Gryphon, Alice Kingsleigh, the White Queen, and Cheshire Cat. right_on_time
It's a freeform, slice-of-life RP; there won't be a game-wide linear plot, whether it'd be the Heroes vs an Antagonist, a plague, zombie invasion, etc. Threads run on what each player's character's individual pursuits, ambitions, relations with one another, and all that. In some sense of the word it can be called fluff, but, everything is taken seriously- considered canon- and ultimately, has a point to it. Threads will not be started for the lulz, out of boredom, etc.
Now, the mythos for the GPSL is that the world's based on Tim Burton's Wonderland, as a kind of world Play-by. We'll be using many of the regions and landmarks within the original books themselves. I.E: Tulgey Wood, The Chessboard..
The GPSL is an amalgamation of Wonderland works; the world mythos is a mixture of bookverse and Burtonverse. How the characters differ from each other varies, based on their respective players. We're allowing players to combine multiple Alice adaptations, but there are some adaptations that we do not allow. That said, all characters must be heavily influenced by the actual original source material. For instance, I play the March Hare: a combination of Burton!Hare and bookverse Hare. I have not incorporated any canon from a modern take on Wonderland, or from a stylized medium such as McGee's Alice. He's an anthropomorphic hare- he's not a human with a mental illness who thinks he's a hare; or, as a human, his behaviour is 'similar' to the literary character in a modern-world setting, and thus is nicknamed March Hare.
Simply put: If the character is an anthropomorphic animal, they must be kept as such. The White Rabbit is a white rabbit. The Mock Turtle is an animal hybrid. Oysters are oysters.
Our rules and requirements all are subject to be modified, but not likely to.
What we do not allow, with exceptions:
Modern takes and retellings on the characters. Humanizing the anthro characters: using human PBs, reinventing them as a human, or in the case of the manga adaptations- a kimonomimi.
This includes retellings where characters and or the world are only an illusion or are an influence. I.E: Syfy's TV series, Malice in Wonderland, The Looking-glass Wars, Manga/anime adaptations.
Videogames & comics/manga: McGee's Alice series, as well as the general idea of extreme reinventions usually seen only in videogames or comics.
Misc: Genderbending, character role switching, etc. Granted, the Dormouse was reinvented as a female, and she is the only exception to this rule.
Slash and femme slash is allowed, if it has justification: groundwork to it. Slashing for the lulz, 'just because', for smut and the like is not accepted
There's no definite application form to fill out for interested players; pretty much anything-goes as to what goes in it, what profile layout is used, etc. Character journals must be relative to the character itself.
For profiles, emphasis should be put on character personalities, and less on filling in the blanks for characters' backgrounds. We do not need players inventing a full history as to how their character came to be, how they reached their present occupation or role.
What I'll be looking for in profiles, as the Mod, is how well an interested player can explore a character's mindset, which ultimately leads to how they'll perform in the group as a long-term member. Dropping in and out of the GPSL due to lack of motivation, or the character 'losing its novelty' is something we want to avoid.
The age requirement is 21 years. Our posting requirement is a paragraph per post minimum, however, the majority of our current members love to write a lot. Threading only, in a community: no crack comms, intros, media, journal entries.
Activity is a couple posts a week, preferably; real life takes priority over RP, but I ask that all members keep the whole group up to date with any changes to posting schedules, if real life will interrupt the RP. There will be Activity Checks, but I am not expecting- if such a scenario comes up, to be starting a chase after a member or two, to remind them that it's their turn to post.
If you become a member, please behave as one and keep your activity up within the group; don't disappear, become AIM-shy, need to be threatened with a boot, whatever. OOC chat via AIM is not required for membership: everyone prefers to focus on the RP itself than idle OOC chat over AIM, but I must be able to contact all members outside of the community. Sockpuppets and flakers are not wanted here.
We'd very much like a Mad Hatter to join our little community, but we are still open to other characters, of course. Original Characters are not allowed.
