The purpose of this community is pretty self-explanatory--you come to find icons! You simply make a post asking if anyone has icons of a certain subject, and if someone knows of an entry, they'll link you. In this sense, it's a community both for icon seekers and icon makers--the former find icons, and the latter can get the word out about their own icons, especially if they don't have a particularly popular icon journal. (That doesn't mean you can only pimp your own icons, however. You're encouraged to link to as many as you know of.)
First and foremost, please be courteous to all community members. This includes using please and thank you rather than just posting with the PB's name. Next, remember that all icon-makers have their own style, and since you're asking others to help you out, don't be overly picky. If you really want your icons one specific way, make them yourself. Lastly, don't be rude or I'll come after you.
While there is no hard-and-set rule regarding this, please be courteous and come to this community as a last resort, not the first place you look. Browse through the affiliates list here or at our sister community find_a_pb to start with. There's also the wonderful Megalist over at pb_updates. We're aiming to help people who are genuinely having trouble finding icons, not people who are simply too lazy to look.
Likewise, if you already know of several icon posts of a subject, you probably don't need to post. It's slightly tiresome to answer posts with "well, I already have 400 icons, but I'd like more" when there are others who don't have any. Ya dig? Just use common sense--spam is bad. This is a high-traffic community as is.
Please note, however, that this is not a request community. Request posts will be deleted without warning and repeat offenders will be banned. Please avoid phrasing your post like one to avoid any confusion!
Lastly, we aim to keep an up-to-date tags system. Please tag your post with the person you are requesting! This is to avoid too many repeat requests. If there is no tag for your request, please tag it as "!untagged." Obviously if the last post asking for icons of someone you're looking for was 3 months ago, it's okay to post again, but old posts are certainly a starting point in your search nevertheless. Please be sure to check the list of tags before you post to make sure no one has posted the same thing recently--repeat requests have to be a month apart.
To aid the effiency of the tag-system, please double-check the name of the person you're looking for. If they're foreign and have accents in their name, include those, too--we want the most accurate, correctly-spelled version for the tags.
