| modernist fantasy? |

Right now I have an idea, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in fleshing it out. The line would be fantasy, involve heavy world-building, and might even involve high magic. However, rather than the regular Medieval fantasy, I'd like to take things in a more modern direction. After all, the world continues to turn after the Chosen One has met his/her destiny, or why would he/she do it? So I'm looking for a world that's post-industrial, perhaps reminiscent of our mid-20th century. From there, I have a list of themes I like to explore, and maybe you like to explore them too. Or maybe you have your own, I'd love to hear them. Maybe we could have a revolution! Viva Thorin! (Or not because I've never had the firmest grasp on Tolkien.)
I would also be open to making a Westeros AU along these lines, if anyone is interested. As far as pairing preferences I lean towards slash, but I would be open to a het/femme line if I can use Oona Chaplin for a PB. I am well and cool for darker themes, as well I should be. The 20th century was the bloodiest in human history, after all.
