Foundation Quandary
I've been experimenting with every kind of foundation you can think of: powder, liquid, etc. My problem is my skin is oily, I have acne (ugh, I thought I was over the acne thing when I was a teenager. How wrong I was!), and I am starting to see deep pores, and of course, I have the whole eye bag thing going on. I like the powder foundation, such as Bare Escentuals, but it doesn't cover enough of my problem areas. As far as liquid foundation, ugh, what can I say? It covers MOST of my flaws, but not all. I have to buy oil-free makeup, but alas, as soon as I do the whole moisturizer - foundation - concealer - powder thing, my face starts looking very distorted in color. Plus, with the oily skin thing, it makes my foundation start to break down immediately.

Any recommendations as to foundations I should try? I'm at my wits end trying to keep everything covered.

I hope you don't mind, but I passed your question on to my sister. I am clueless about make-up, but she has been obbsessed with make-up since she was ten. She currently works as a make-up artist for Aveda. This was her reply:

It sounds to me that they need to use a oil-control moisturizer, then a concealer/liquid foundation on problem areas, If they use a good oil-control moisturizer that'll take care of the weird color issue which is probably due to their foundation oxidizing when the oil seeps through, plus it'll help the makeup last longer. The acne issue has nothing to do with the maekup but with their skin care and it sounds to me like it's horomonal acne, in which cause the best thing wuld be a gentle deep cleaning cleanser, exfoliant and a salisylic acid spot treat. This would be my advice:
Daytime:
Cleanse: Aveda Outer Peace Acne Relief Foaming Cleanser
Tone: Aveda Outer Peace Pads
Spot Treat: Aveda Outer Peace Spot Treatment or another salisylic acid spot treatment
Moisturize: Aveda Outer Peace Acne Relief Lotion
Concealer/Foundation: an oil-free of your choice, my personal preference is MAC or Laura Mercier makes a great ol-free one
Powder: MAC Pressed or Loose Blot Powder

Nightime:
Cleanse: same as daytime
Tone: a gentle toner of your choice or can use the pads again if you feel you need extra help
Spot Treat: same as daytime

once skin gets clear then I would keep the cleanser the same, use the spot treatment as needed and do the toner once a day
