HEY Y'ALL. Max here with a brand new pufflehuff.

Gertie Goyle is nineteen years old and graduated Hogwarts class of 2003. That means that she overlapped with those in the trio's year during their seventh year of Hogwarts when Voldie was in power, as well as their optional second seventh year. Anyone younger than the trio would have had more opportunity to interact with her, and anyone older than the trio would be unlikely to know her at all unless they had some other connection. She was dorm-mates with Leah's little sister.

Her dad died in the battle of hogwarts and her brother Greg went to prison, so it was just her and mum for a while. But then mum lost her marbles, so she spent some (yet undetermined) years living under the care of the social worker Cecil Frobisher. She didn't really interact with Vic because there was such an age gap, but she became close friends with another foster sister and fellow Death Eater kid, NPC foster-sister Josie.

That's enough history I think. Nowdays Gertie is a Witch Weekly intern who'd really rather work at the Prophet like her dad. But not like her dad because he's a terrorist. She's extremely clever and sarcastic, but she's also kind of immature. She's very inexperienced in the ways of the world, and definitely hasn't figured out how to be a grown-up yet. She lives with Greg and relies on him for almost everything. In return she (very secretly) pads their budget with money she makes writing erotica for a very seedy women's magazine called Glamour de l'Amour. The sex scenes are decent, but she's definitely not writing from experience.

So... that's baby Goyle. I don't know if she'll really be able to get much interaction but I'm really excited about her. Any possible connections?

I can't stop going "YAY GERTIE!" in my head.

For obvious reasons, Greg is excited. He adores his baby sister and is very proud of her. Of course, he has no idea of her side job.

Miles, Tiago, Hamish, Samir, Cormac and Zoe didn't have any overlapping years with Gertie, so they probably don't know her. She might have met any of the three Keepers at some point in her capacity as an intern, and they would have all been nice (though Hamish would have been a bit timid as he's not very comfortable dealing with the press), while Gertie might have met Zoe at Flourish and Blotts.

She'll know Leah through Rachel. Leah was also an "ugly duckling" until recent years (and still sees herself as one) so that might either be a bonding point or something for Gertie to look forward to?

Jamie wasn't around in Gertie's first year, what with him being Wandless at that time, but they would have shared a common room the following year. She'll remember him as the seventh year who had to run up and down stairs on occasion to soothe his hyperactivity (and who spent part of the year snogging fellow Puff DE offspring Lucy). They also have a connection through the Frobishers.

And she'll know Luna even if Luna might not know her. Besides being a person that's hard to miss (unless you're Harry Potter, as he took five years to realize she exists :P), Luna might have also stuck to Gertie's memory in her first year as that strange girl who was taken away by her dad's friends around Christmas.

And finally -
Out of my characters, the person she might be more familiar with after Greg, believe it or not, is Declan. He was always good with kids, and either as a Carrow-approved Prefect (in her first year) or as Head Boy (in her second) he had the younger years as his priority - and as a result was always followed by a gaggle of kids, who absolutely adored him. Maybe Gertie was one of them? He was there for her anyway, either as protection or an understanding ear.

Oh my gosh! Me too!

She might literally die if Greg knew about her side job. Just melt into a puddle of embarrassment. She definitely brings her "magazine work" (she never specified what magazine so she's not actually lying!) to the Snatch sometimes when Greg is working late, but she pretends she's not paying attention to the dancers. But for real she watches them and tries to think of new ways to describe boobies.

I bet she worked a summer or two at Flourish and Blotts, so I'm sure she'd know Zoe. Gertie has no clue about her own sexuality (which doesn't really bother her), so she's been very fascinated with Zoe's relationship with Jade. She hasn't been witness to very many happy relationships, so she probably has no issue with them.

She's probably met the keepers but she's got nowhere near enough seniority to actually interview them. She's likely to remember their tea orders and if they said thank you, but they probably wouldn't remember her. She's more of a concierge/toady than anything else. She may have given them a tour of the offices.

Would she overlap with Miles' sister at all? She might know him a little if she and Jemima knew each other.

Leah is definitely a role-model in the image department. She's not extremely interested in Leah's work but she admires how she's a badass business bitch who really maintains her own personality and style. She and Gertie have a lot in common, so they might get along really well.

She'd definitely remember Jamie because she was kind of nervous and squirrelly too. They probably saw each other a fair amount on holidays as well, but she was one of a huge group of foster kids in that house, so she probably wasn't very memorable.

Luna being taken away was probably one of the first war moments that was actually scary.

Aaaw, she's such a little teacher's pet, I'm sure she loved Declan. I'm sure she confided in him a lot, because most older people weren't that into listening to her.

I like the idea of her having worked at the bookstore. I'm guessing Gertie will be surprised when the truth behind Zoe and Jade's relationship becomes public.

Oh yes, Jem would have been a fourth year when Gertie arrived at Hogwarts, so while the age gap and being in different houses might have prevented them from being close, they'd very likely know of each other. I'm leaving up to anyone who picks Jem whether she'd have played Quidditch and/or been a Prefect, as those would have been factors that might increase Gertie knowing of her.

Yeah, sadly Jamie only knows most of Vic's foster siblings on a superficial level. He'll recognize the Hufflepuff ones more easily, though, so he'll know Gertie if she ever interacts with him.

Declan would have listened to her, definitely.

	Of course! They're SO happy! Gertie was pretty darn precocious so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of her friends were ravenclaws or older. How about we say friendly acquaintances? Yeah, he probably only knows her brothers and her two adopted sisters Claire and Josie. Declan probably knows a lot about her mum's condition then. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Ok I am on a bus so this is probably going to be full of typos and in parts. Let's say this is part 1. Also, I'm logged in as Evan purely because The Creep by The Lonely Island came up on my shuffle.

Anyway.

Evan - will likely actually know her fairly well. For starters his younger brother Ethan was in her year at Hogwarts (and is dating Leah's sister). Ethan's actually a good guy who tries to distance himself from Evan a bit, although probably less now that Evan isn't a creep. Also, Evan is friendly with Greg and will Geryie at The Golden Snatch.

That wasn't suppised to post yet. Ah well. Better that than lose it altogether. Evan will *see* Gertie at the Snatch.

Jade - probably didn't know her really in school. She is often at The Snatch though, and if you want could have seen Geryie sneak glances at the girls there? Jade would be more likely to notice that because she is doing the same, although not to write porn.

Romilda - hmmm. There are a couple of possible links here. Romilda will know the Frobishers bc of Vic, but if there's not any overlap that might not do much. Romilda probably reads her porn, because it's Romilda and porn.

Lucy - fellow Puff and friends with Greg.... although that's a bit strained since they kind of dated. She would have always been super nice to Gertie even back in school. So maybe friendly? I'd hope Gertie would be a bit more forgiving of Lucy's former politics bc of Gertie's dad and bro. Hey, they have de daddys in common!

Alex is pretty much always a dick, but she may have escaped his notice, beibg younger and a puff. What do you reckon?

Dean doesn't have much reason to know her even if they did overlap a little in school. Unless you can think of anything? He'll be nice anyway.

And my older ones:
Mel's dad is a journalist so their paths might cross that way? She'll be nice too.

Barney has no idea who she is but will be nice. She may have met him in an intern context, as with Patricia's keepers. He's a puff too, although I dont think that does much when they weren't at school in the same years.

Lee is kind of a dick to Greg so she probably doesn't like him much. Also Lee and Greg were paired in the love potipn plot soooo that.

Luke is nice and everything but he barely even talks to his bffs so.... probably not much interaction. Possibly through Zoe in the future.

Sally wants to give her a makeover. Um. In her defence it's kind of her job, -ish.

Glenys - it's a shame there was no overlap in Hogwarts because Glenys was a super involved prefect and headgirl who knows alllll the younger puffs. Oh! Glenys dabbles in psychological healing so she could have worked with Gertie's mom?

Valentina is unlikely to ever talk to her.

Yakov will talk to her if she ever mentions food or sleeping.

Myron has two possible routes to know her - through her working at F & B and through her WW internship. I imagine Witch Weekly like him lots. If you want, Gertie could have used her Wagtail connections to bag an interview with him at some point? He will be nice and pretend to remember her even if he doesn't.

Gertie loves Jade and only wants good things for her, but is very confused about this love potion thing. She doesn't have a crush on Jade, but she certainly sees the good in her (even when it isn't always there) and sees how she could be a potentially very attractive partner. Gertie is a romantic, though so IDK.

I would love if Gertie could learn that Romilda reads her writing. She might pretend to be a reader as well and use her as a teeny tiny focus group. Which Romilda would probably eventually figure out because she's not stupid.

Gertie kind of idolises Lucy because she's successful and pretty. But she broke up with Greggie, so she's clearly a little bit broken. Because Greg is a catch, Lucy.

She was besties with Josie, so she certainly knows about him. :( She thinks he's slutty. But she kind of likes that.

	Awww. Jade appreciates people who don't hate her. She doesn't see very much good in herself. Hmmm how do you think it would come up? Romilda could maybe post something about one particular story being more saucy than usual and Gertie could respond?
