Okay, here goes. Throwing in my goblet kids.barneysakeeper
Barney Dunstan (Hufflepuff '96) is an impossibly bouncy and energetic young man with abs you could bounce rocks off. Just saying. I've postwarted him before and he's always been a farmer but I thought I'd try something different this time, so he's a professional Quidditch player. He plays Keeper for the Tutshill Tornados and has done since 1999 when their Keeper Merwyn Fenwick suffered a bout of Narcolepsy in a match against the Ballycastle Bats and was forced to take early retirement. Barney is very very friendly, super sweet, not all that smart, and has a tendency to write and talk in run on sentences with not enough punctuation. He was very close friends with Cedric so was already having a rough time before Umbridge got there to mess up his last year at school. He hasn't always been pro-Harry, but he never believed the crap about Muggle-borns stealing magic and would have tried to help any he came across during that year, hiding them in his barn. Barney has several older brothers and sisters and one younger brother, Bamber, who was Hufflepuff class of '99. If your character would know him, Bamber is the odd one out in the family as although he's not unfriendly, he doesn't have much of a sense of social norms so can come across quite rude. Barney still lives with his parents in a big farmhouse and has impossibly good relationships with everyone in his family, being especially close to his sole sister, Beatrice. You won't be able to avoid him, I'm afraid, as he talks to pretty much everyone indiscriminately and cannot take a hint to go away.wrongfandom
Luke Hammonds (Ravenclaw '95) is a muggle-born geek who is all about Star Wars and dreams of being a Jedi (but knows, rationally, he's not really a fighter). He is slightly socially awkward, especially with girls, he's smart, kind of shy, and far too serious. He currently works for the Ministry in the Dept of Magical Transportation, but is thinking about setting up his own business, he's just not sure what as yet. He's likely to get less play that Barney because he doesn't tend to talk to people he doesn't know very much. He'll just be cute and geeky into the ether. Luke's real name is Julian but he uses his middle name, Luke, for obvious geeky Star Wars reasons. Luke has older, non-magical siblings and although he doesn't fight with his family or anything, they are kind of distant with him as they don't really understand his world. Anyone want to be flatmates or something with him? Bonus points for a girl who would wander round in a towel after taking a shower because I like making him awkward and uncomfortable.bread_and_roses
Mel Pennyfeather (Gryffindor '97) is a very very political young lady. She's a feminist, a Marxist, and anti-oppression of all kinds. Her older sister is a lesbian, so this includes being strongly anti-homophobic. She's very passionate and will talk your ear off about the oppression of anyone given half a chance. She loves debating (or arguing), Quidditch and men. During the Tri-wizard tournament, Mel ran a 'Model International Confederation of Wizards' which was mostly an international debating society. In her post-Hogwarts life she has continued in this vein and now works as an undersecretary for the actual International Confederation of Wizards. She basically got this job by writing letters to the ICW representatives until one of them agreed to have her on their team (this is modelled after someone I know who got a job as secretary to an MP the same way). She loves her work and is likely to talk about it a lot. Sorry. Mel's pretty friendly and particularly likes being friends with people from different backgrounds. She can get quite wearing, though, and has a habit of pushing boyfriends away by arguing politics with them all the time. Those of you who knew Mel in Goblet should be aware that not only has she changed her PB and name, but also her ethnicity. She's now half-Pakistani rather than half-Indian and her first name is Malala, after the Pashtan warrior of Afghanistan. She still shortens it to Mel though. Younger characters may know her eccentric aunt, Professor Pennyfeather, who taught Transfiguration after McGonagall became headmistress.fiaba
Valentina Moretti (Beauxbatons '95) is a fairytale princess, with a wicked stepmother and two ugly (in personality) half-sisters. She's Italian originally, but due to being bullied in her own home, she's lived mainly abroad since finishing school. She's highly intelligent and a skilled linguist, which has led to her becoming an interpreter and translator. She works freelance but has frequent recurring contracts so she gets along quite well, financially. She frequently accompanies her BFF Remy Laurent on tour. She is fluent in Italian, French, Greek and English, and proficient in Portugese, Spanish, German, Yiddish, Venetian and Latin. She's learning more all the time. Valentina is very shy and has a habit of becoming very cold when with people she doesn't know as a defence mechanism, which can make her seem snobby. When with people she knows, however, she is warm and sweet and excessively kind, to the point where you could easily take advantage of her if you so chose. She has a fear of the sun because her mother died of skin cancer and is quite OCD about putting on sun lotion. She can also be kind of clingy and jealous because she is constantly waiting for people she loves to be taken away from her. Hopefully she'll know some of you because otherwise she probably won't talk to you!
