Yeah, the goal is just to deliver a different type of experience. Those games are great, it just seems like they're kind of the majority of panfandoms, and the genre kind of lacks in variety somewhat. Which is why I was gauging interest, because I'm not even sure how many people still play on Insanejournal actively these days/or if they're interested in something different.
And agreed, a strong and viable reason for characters with conflicting goals to work together is key- otherwise it rings a bit hollow when you've got characters tolerating one another who really shouldn't be. Also the potential still exists for people to screw one-another over, even when ostensibly fighting on the same side (leading another character into danger/refusing to come to their aid in battle or whatever)
