Kotetsu stepped away from the wagon, looked up to see Hayate approach. "Target appropriated," he muttered. And everyone else was mostly out for the count. Except for the people in the traps... "I'll go knock them out, and then release my traps," he said to Hayate. "You take the... target. And... the animal. The wagon's much easier to take with us, I think."

And also because he didn't want to hold the kid. Not kid, target.

Without waiting for Hayate's assent, he veered around to check his traps, disabling the ones that weren't sprung - no point leaving the wires out for anyone to fall into - and took his time to knock out the glaring men with precise strikes, and winding up his wires and string. The ink faded on the bark as soon as he wiped his hands on them, taking back the chakra, becoming faint simple black pigment again, and he trudged back, hoping that Hayate'd gotten the animal to start moving.
