Kaito's head snapped up, his heart leaping into his throat. That was an explosion. He glanced at the former kunoichi, hoping she'd go running out to make sure everything was all right.

Instead she faced the doorway and braced.

That was no good. Kaito ran through the jutsu he knew--everything involved seals, and there was a bar between his hands to keep that from happening. Still, she wasn't looking... He twisted back, choking for a moment against the collar as he squirmed to drag his wrists over his feet, shoulders popping out of joint.

"Stop it," the kunoichi muttered without looking back.

He jerked once more, pulling the bar over his toes, and sat up, breathing again.
