Even geniuses can reach a limit.
Of course, doctors, gravity, and teammates ganging up on them didn't help. Kakashi hit the bed, felt Ryouma's leg hook round his waist, heard the conversation spin into some dizzy nightmare about drugs, dogs, and gynecology, and decided he'd had enough.
They were in Konoha. There were two shepherds and several heavy-set guards around. None of the nurses smelled suspicious. And Waki might be crazy, but it was only in the ways that made sense.
If any assassins wanted to get in and murder them, well, they'd have damn well earned the privilege.
Kakashi summoned up all his remaining energy, gave the one brave nurse poking her head around the door a warning glare on final principle, and half-crawled, half-dragged himself up the bed. His chakra caved in on itself, burning down to a bare flutter near his core. He crashed flat on his stomach next to Ryouma, threw his arm over the older man and Tsume both, and shoved his face into the pillow.
"'f anyone comes 'nywhere near me with a pelvic wh'tever," he mumbled, "'m gonna bite 'em. Tsume, don' fall 'sleep..."
