Tsume flailed until the blanket was off her face and arranged somewhat over herself and both kids. "Not that I can think of." She pillowed her head on her arm, letting her eyes fall closed and listening to the sounds of Raidou moving around, the open-mouthed breathing of the cubs, Kuromaru's soft in- and exhalations. Her muscles were shaking. Tomorrow's run was going to be miserable, and the night might involve painkillers. Still, she'd get through everything.
Most of them were still alive.
Her jaw cracked when she yawned. She breathed through her nose and smelled nothing like fear. It was pleasant. She could almost ignore the lingering traces of blood, and let herself drift off to sleep. | |
