Off weeks.
Serendipity is:
Turning on Comedy Central, because you're Daily Show deprived and the TV guide said that there would be Demetri Martin, and getting LEWIS &*%#$ing BLACK instead!
Oh, Lewis. There's very few people I can sit through an hour of stand-up from, and Lewis Black is one of them. I have a thing for curmudgeons, what can I say. It's like sitting at the kitchen table listening to my grandfather or one of my uncles rant, with homemade pie and cool milk in a Coca-cola glass. Except how Lewis Black is a lot closer to my politics. And repeats himself a lot less. And, oh, yeah, there's the cussing.
If we get Jon for President and Stephen for VP, we definitely need Lewis Black for Secretary of State. He would be *awesome* at that job. And at the UN :D
When I try to explain the Daily Show to people who don't grok the youth culture, I tell them it's the Saturday Night Live for our generation: it's the show that's funny, and relevant, and that all the good comedians get their starts in. Can't see a promo for a hot comedy lately without running into at least one name I recognize, and then they're touring and writing and all over.
Which of the Daily Show alumni / current correspondents do you like best in their non-Daily-Show work? (Stephen Colbert doesn't count.)
