Who: Madison and Brody Where: The walking trails When: Wee hours in the morning Why: She gets herself in some trouble and needs help Rating: TBA
Madison worked on controlling her breathing as she ran, music blasted in her ear from her ear buds, her phone in a arm band, keeping it around her arm. Her outfit was tight against her body, but yet enabled her to keep a comfortable pace in her jog. It was well after midnight, no one was on the trails. But it wasn't that out of the ordinary for her to go out so late on nights she couldn't sleep. Her mind often raced and she had a problem unwinding from the day, plus go into all of the workloads she had, it was hard to find some peace, so instead of fighting with her brain and popping sleeping pills, she usually found other ways to wear herself out.
She came to a stop, however, still jogged in place as she stood in front of a water fountain. She pressed the button to get the water to spray up and she lowered herself to get a drink. She was alone, in her own little world, so imagine her shock when someone touched her arm.
She ripped back real quick to see a tall male standing beside her, a hoodie on with the hood going over his face, casting a shadow so she couldn't see him. She pulled her ear bud out of her ear. "Can I help you?" She asked.
"Do you have some change to spare, I'm awfully hungry."
"No, I don't. I'm sorry." Which she wasn't lying. Look at what she was wearing, where could she hide a wallet in that?
"Do you think if I walk you somewhere, you can find me something?"
"What?" She asked. "Walk me where? Actually, I'm going to my boyfriend's place and he wouldn't like a stranger following me. He's waiting on me now. Meeting me half way even. But I hope you get what you're looking for." She pushed passed him as he stood uncomfortably close to her and began to move, but she walked backwards, keeping him in her line of sight the whole time. She watched as he slowly turned and began walking the opposite way. She didn't feel safe going back to the sorority house and possibly having some creeper follow her and put the other girls in predicaments like that, so she grabbed her phone from her arm and text Brody.
Still up? She asked and seeing his response that he was, she asked him to meet her half way to the walking trail, she was coming to him. She didn't feel comfortable going back to the sorority house. It was probably nothing but she'd explain later.
She watched his figure which seemed to stop again, it looked like he was talking to himself. Madison placed the earbud back in her ear but didn't turn on the music. But she did turn her back and began to walk the way where she would meet Brody and for a little bit, everything was good. She felt it was just her paranoia. Sometimes it happened like that, she got worked up over the little things but to be honest, who said that? Asking to walk you back home to get something to eat? Now Madison wasn't one to let someone go hungry. But she knew around campus there were a lot of homeless centers that regular college students frequented for free meals because they never turned anyone down and they were advertised very well, everyone knew where they were.
But then she heard something... The stomping of feet, in a fast pace, approaching behind her. She turned her head and seen the hooded guy coming in with a fast pace, his eyes reflecting off the light like he was some kind of animal. Madison took off running as fast as she could, she just knew he was coming to her. She didn't know how she knew, but she knew. One thing she had going for her, was she was a sprinter. Yes, in high school, she was a cheerleader, but she was also on the track team, so she could run at a fast pace and regulate her breathing pretty well, even though she was having some problems because she had never been chased before!
She needed to get him out in the lights. She ran off the path and onto the lawn of the trails where the lights were. His eyes were reflecting in what light did shine, so that meant whatever he was, was nocturnal. Light, in theory, should bother him. And she was right, as soon as he hit the lawn, he seemed to slow down and started to run off her track as if trying to avoid the lights.
She continued to run, her muscles weren't exactly happy with her, but she was so hellbent on living, that she refused to give up. She seen up in the distance, a tall body and she knew exactly who it was. "BRODY!" She yelled out. "BRODY! GO! RUN!" She warned him, moving her arm out to show them not to just stand there, but to run too.
She heard her name in the distance and she looked around, the guy finally caught up with her and grabbed her by the back of her ponytail and yanked her head back, causing her to fall at top speed to the ground. Her body slid through the dirt and the grass, the male of the body climbing on top of her, slamming her head down in the grass.
She managed to turn herself around to her back and got a better look at the guy who had an unhinged jaw with sharp teeth and sulfuric breath. What was he? He was in mid turn of being a Wendigo. He lunged forward, preparing to rip out her throat but she put her hands up and began to push her back, even though he pushed against her and was extra strong. She growled out as she struggled, closing her eyes tightly to try to muster up the strength to get out of this position. She knew, she didn't know how she knew, but if she could just get to Brody, she'd be safe. Or if Brody could just get to her.
She moved her head up to look behind her and seen Brody approaching closer so she knew she had to keep fighting. He was getting closer to her, she could feel his drool, dripping down around her. He grabbed her arm and popped it in his mouth, biting down.
Madison screamed out and began kicking her legs, finally squaring him right between his legs, her arm was released and Madison acted quickly by crawling from beneath him, blood everywhere from her injury. She got to her feet and kicked him as hard as she could in the face, forcing him onto his back, he was trying to drag her back to the wooded part of the trail, she refused to let that happen. She turned to see Brody running up and she ran to him, out of breath and feeling a bit faint due to her injury.
"Something's wrong with him!" She said, motioning to the guy on the ground. "I...Oh god that's a lot of blood." She had to sit down. She just sat right where stood in a Indian style position. She was going into shock. She rocked back and forth while the guy, who knew he couldn't get her anymore, attempted to run off in the other direction.
