Who: Zoe and Colt (With Colton and Coleman) Where: Colt's house When: Evening Why: She's been watching them all day. Rating: TBA
Zoe sat in the floor, playing with Coleman as Colton jumped around to the Lion King that was playing on the television. A song came on and Colton jumped over by them. "Hakuna! Matata! Hakuna! Matata!" He sung, Zoe smiled and got on her knees, grabbing Colton by the hands.
"It means no worries! For the rest of your days!" She sung, spinning Colton around until he collapsed into her. "It's our problem free!" She sung with Colton. "Philosophy! Hakuna-AHhh!" She yelled out as Coleman got up and jumped on her, forcing her to fall back onto the floor, Coleman crawling over her, as did Colton. "OH NO!" She cried out. "HELP! I NEED HELP FROM THE BEASTIES!"
"Hey! I'm not a beast!" Colton announced as he stood up from her.
"You're not!? Well what are you?" Zoe asked.
"I'm a King!"
"Oh a King!" She picked Coleman up and moved to her knees, "We must bow before the king!" She told Coleman as she bowed her head. "But do you know what I am?" She asked. What? "I'm the beast and I eat Kings for breakfast! ARHH!" She grabbed Colton and gently threw him down on the floor, raising his shirt to blow raspberries against his stomach. The boy howled with laughter. Coleman, seeing his brother was in trouble, started hitting Zoe. "Oh no!" She said. "Not the Good Knight Coleman! He knows my weakness! Noooo!" She wrapped her arms around both of the boys, taking them down to the floor with her, tickling them both.
It was true, she was supposed to work that day but Colt needed someone to watch the boys and he never seemed too happy with his original arrangement and well, Zoe had all of her sick days lined up just ready to be taken, so she took one of them. It was true, she could have taken them into work with her and just drove them back to their house but Colton wasn't having the best of mornings. How he was now, was a different boy entirely from what she seen that morning. He was upset about everything, just throwing tantrums, nothing was making him happy. He got moody sometimes, which was thought to be him acting out his emotions from the trauma he experienced, so you couldn't get upset with him or scold him. You had to work with him and she knew bringing Colton in that morning wouldn't have fared well for anyone. It was getting closer to the time of their mother's passing and while Coleman was seemingly unaffected due to him being so young, Colton had a hard time.
So she spent that morning just laying beside him. Not saying much of anything, if he wanted to talk, he'd talk to her. But she just brushed his hair back and cuddled him while he calmed down until he decided he was hungry. Then she got him up and didn't have the chef cook them something, she did it herself and let Colton help, getting his hands dirty in making French toast was enough to occupy his mind, besides she got some laughs out of him when she let him dob her on the nose with whipped cream.
But now? Now he was a completely different child. He was very social, wanting to show off, very affectionate. She was glad he came around because like she told him, seeing him sad made her sad.
Somehow the tables turned and the boys were back to jumping on Zoe and 'tickling' her the best they could. "STOP IT!" She squealed out, careful of how she moved, she didn't want to hurt either of them but she definitely wiggled around. Then came a squeal.
"DADDY!" Colton yelled, followed by Coleman who chanted "DADDY!" repeatedly as both boys made their way over to their father to get his affection. Zoe pushed herself up to her knees, her hair a complete and utter mess in her ponytail. She tightened the messy due and sighed. "They ganged up on me!" She didn't know how long he had been there watching or if he just came in but she laughed and pushed herself up in a standing position.
"I've asked them about dinner but they wanted to wait until you came home so I just fed them some cheese, grapes and carrot sticks with ranch to hold them over. I figured you could have something put together for them. And this one right here!" She said, pointing to Coleman. "Didn't tell me twice today he had to go to the bathroom and I don't know what crawled up that boy and died but you need to get that checked out." She said with a laugh. "He thought he was being funny, I thought I was going to die." She moved back to the couch and grabbed her cross body purse and slipped it over her shoulder.
"Alright kiddies, give me lovins! I'll see you tomorrow bright and early." Coleman waddled over to her and she picked him up, giving him a tight squeeze, kissing the side of his face in a series of pecks before setting him down and looking over at his brother. "Are we too big for lovins now, Colton?" She asked.
"I want you to stay!" He demanded.
"Baby I can't stay. I've got to be at work tomorrow at five thirty in the morning. That's like super early. And tomorrow we're going to have a movie day and we're going to pop some popcorn in my popcorn maker!" He only hid his face from her, into his father's side. Zoe frowned. "Don't be like that, Colton. I don't have any clean clothes over here! Do you want me to go in tomorrow looking all dirty? You get clean clothes on before you come and see me, I want to have them for when I see you!" He wanted her to stay, NOW! He even stomped his foot.
"Colton that's not okay for you to act this way. We've spoken about this." She sighed and looked up at Colt. "I'm sorry, I really am." But it looked like he was going to show his butt tonight, he was already starting.
"You haven't aten!" He snapped at her. She sighed and crossed her arms at her chest.
"If I stay for dinner, will you not give your daddy a hard time and not throw a fit when I leave?" He went back to hiding his face. "That's not how we make deals, mister." She held out her hand. "We pinkie promise." He stepped away from his father long enough to wrap his small pinkie around hers and each kissed their thumb. Zoe smiled, pulling her purse off of her body. "I guess you're stuck with me a little while longer." She told Colt with a smile.
