After looking after Genghis for a couple of weeks, Abby was relishing the opportunity to sit back relax, and totally indulge her desire for childish pleasures, like console games! It seemed like forever since she'd taken a seat in front of the tv and slid a disc into the Playstation, and it felt like heaven! With half the train singing it wasn't hard to pick a game - Abby needed something to drown out the noise, and so Rock Band seemed like the perfect antidote to the weeks of dirty nappies and crying babies. Not that the singing was much better! As long as she didn't choose the lead singer, she figured she'd be able to play without a problem, and so she plugged in the guitar controller and got down to some serious rocking! There was no question that Abby was there for the evening, Abby felt the tension begin to fade away. As much as she'd loved looking after the child, he'd been incredibly demanding - and it was a huge responsibility, making sure a kid didn't die! Connor had been fabulous, unless a nappy needed changing, but there was no doubt that she'd born the brunt of the train's latest prank. Had she really been looking after Genghis Kahn? Who knew? It was sort of nice to think that she'd had a brush with such a great - although bloody - leader. Abby felt a tiny pang of disappointment that, in the end, she'd been proved not to be carrying their own child, but it had given her a little more insight into how they'd react when the time came. Both she and Connor were rather relieved that they weren't bringing a baby into the often dangerous enviroment of the train. There was plenty of time for children when they (finally) got home! Just as Abby was finishing a particularly hard road challenge, the door opened and a man came in. "Hello!" she called, over the noise of the rock music, which was pounding through the speaker system. A few bum notes followed as she regained her concentration and focused back on the game. "Pull up an instrument, you're more than welcome to join in," Abby told him with a broad grin. When the song finished she pumped her fist in the air, "YES! High score! That's what I'm talking about," she gave a little shimmy dance and then, seeing the man's expression, sat back down a little embarrassed. "Been trying to get through that one for a while," she said by way of explanation. |
