WHO: Emma Swan and the Huntsman
WHERE: His room
WHEN: Saturday afternoon
WHAT: Baby Charles Manson? Really?
WARNINGS: TBD

The train certainly had an interesting sense of humor.

Having spent twenty-eight years as Sheriff of Storybrooke, he had awakened this morning with a baby in his room sporting the name of one of the most notorious serial killers in American history.

Leaving aside the rather important fact that he knew absolutely nothing about babies, as law enforcement, this baby also put him in a rather interesting legal conundrum. Yes, this baby was going to grow up to become a terrible person, responsible for a great deal of sadness and death. Yes, he could save a lot of lives if something were to happen to this baby.

But...it was a baby.

And no matter what it would do when it got older, it had done nothing wrong yet.

So he was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching it where it lay squirming and gurgling on the little pillow bed he had made for it. Wolf sat at his side, looking half-curious, half-frightened of the tiny, noisy (and somewhat stinky) creature.

Emma had ended up talking with Dr. Watson for a bit and when they finally finished, she knew she couldn’t keep avoiding the whole baby in the huntsman’s room. The comment Regina made hurt more than she wanted to admit, but she was determined not to let that be known by anyone. Regina was right that Emma had no idea about babies because she gave Henry up from the very beginning. That thought alone was making her sick as she had her reasons only she hated that Regina had to remind her of that. Or what if her curse of hurting things happened and the baby got hurt?

The thing that caused her to cave in and go was because the name of the baby had her rather curious. Most people knew the story of the serial killer and to know that man was a baby on the train or at least with the same name had her curious. Moving to the huntsman car, she didn’t even knock as she entered into the room, smirking at the sight in front of her. “You three seem to be having a good old time,” she teased, closing the door as she moved to stand near the baby. She didn’t have a motherly bone in her body or at least that’s what she believed even when she did a wonderful job with Henry since she came back into his life. “How’s it going?”

He looked up when Emma came in, glad that she seemed so comfortable with not knocking. It was a step in the right direction, anyway.

"Well...it isn't crying? Or screaming? It's making odd little noises, but I think...well, I think it's vaguely happy? Aw, I don't know. I don't know anything about babies, Emma."

It was weird for her to come in without the knocking, but she figured if he got the baby down that it would wake him. Also the fact she had been spending enough time in here that she figured it would be okay. Emma looked at him as if he had a third head, “And you think I know anything about babies?”

The one baby she had was raised by someone else, but she wasn’t going to let him try to figure this out on his own. Plus she wanted to shut Regina up about how Emma wouldn’t know a damn thing about babies because she didn’t even raise her own. She stood near it, but she didn’t touch the baby more in fear of hurting or doing something that would end with it having her curse passed through to him causing something bad to happen to him. “What have you done so far for him?”

"I don't know," he shrugged. "I mean, you're a girl. Lots of girls like babies. And...well, you were raised by humans, anyway, so you probably have a lot better idea of how to do these things than I do."

He shrugged, nonchalantly as he smiled at her a bit nervously.

"Well, I put it on the pillow. Thought it would be more comfortable there? But it's a bit...stinky."

“Most girls do, but do I really need to point out the fact that I’m not like most girls?” She asked with a small laugh. When he said how she was raised by humans, she knew he had a point. She might not have had the best time with humans, but she did have them at some point in her life causing her to have a better idea than him. “I guess I can give it a try. Can’t do any worse than you with wanting to toss meat at it,” she said with a laugh.

That comment still amused her on how he thought about doing that, but she still found herself not yet making a move to the kid. Emma could do this it was just a baby. A small sigh left her lips before moving to sit on the other side of the baby. “And you didn’t change him?” She asked, raising an eyebrow. “Do you have any diapers or anything?” She asked. Emma was going to try and get him to change the diaper, but she already had a feeling it would end up with her doing it.

"No. you're not. And I'll never stop being glad for that," he smiled. There was a reason he'd never challenged his 'relationship' with Regina before - 'most' girls just didn't do much for him. They never had. He liked girls with strength, with courage, girls who weren't afraid to get their hands dirty when the situation called for it. Girls like Emma.

"I don't know how to change a baby," he said, looking at her in a bit of shock. "How would I know how to change a baby? And where would I find diapers?"

A small smile slipped over her lips at him saying that he was glad for that. Not very often she heard that and it was nice to hear the huntsman say that when she did feel something for him. “Good cause if that was the type of girl you were expecting I was going to leave and find you someone else to come help you,” she teased, pushing a piece of her blonde hair behind her ear.

“I don’t either,” she told him before biting her thumb nail. No, Emma could do this it couldn’t be that hard. “Did the train leave you anything for this? Maybe you can send a message on the network for some diapers,” she told him. This was going to be a long few however long he was stuck with the kid because Emma had a feeling she would end up being stuck with helping him. “Seems like a bunch of people are getting babies so maybe the know where some diapers are,” or at least Emma hoped so.

"Uh...there's that bag over there. That...diaper bag thingy? Maybe it has diapers in it."

He assumed it had, but that didn't mean that he knew how to use them, so he hadn't gone to the trouble of trying. He smiled at her with a self-deprecating grin, and stood to retrieve it.

"I'm glad you came down here. Even if you don't know anything about babies."

Emma couldn’t decide if she wanted to slap him or kick him at that moment. She had a feeling that he didn’t want to change the diaper and was trying to sucker Emma into it. Though she was debating about whether she should one up him or just do it this round. “You didn’t check to see what was in it?” She asked, shaking her head at him.

Though that grin of his caused her to smile slightly before allowing it to vanish as a serious face came on her face. “You’re only glad because you can sucker me into doing the messy work,” she teased, shaking her head as she smiled down to the little one. “I figured you could use some help though I feel sick right now with being around this little one,” she admitted to him. Had it been anyone else she would have kept that to herself, but she figured the huntsman probably had a slight idea that she probably felt awkward around babies.

For a moment he almost felt a tiny twinge of regret for making her be around the baby. Almost.

Seriously, though, he knew that it had to be...different for her. It would have to remind her of Henry, of giving him up, of the years she had lost. And he was sorry for that, sorry that she had suffered through that. But he was also glad that Henry had found her, and brought her to Storybrooke, and ultimately that things had happened the way they had.

"You know," he said softly. "At least you got him back in your life. Even if it did take ten years."

It was hard for Emma because she started to think about how she gave up Henry and the reasons for it. Emma couldn’t have raised him the way she had been living, he deserved a chance to do something with his life and be something special. If he had stayed with her, she doubt she would have been great for him. Even when she stayed around Storybrooke, she had her doubts about how she was as an adult figure in his life.

Then to think about all the things Henry was going to miss out on because Regina killed him then the fact she still had the guts to call Henry her son. Emma saw that and took everything in her not to throw out what Regina did even when Regina had to make the comment about how Emma had no idea what babies were like.

“Yeah, just to lose him again. Though I have a few other reasons why I decided to come help you out,” she told him with a sigh, glancing back down at the little one as she felt him try to turn a bit. “But anyways, what’s in the bag?”

"Oh? What kind of reasons?" he smiled and winked at her, trying to lighten the tone of their conversation a bit.

Opening the bag, he raised an eyebrow.

"Um. There's a lot of stuff in here. Baby stuff. Uh..."

He reached in and pulled out a diaper with little trains on it, holding it up and raising an eyebrow at her.

"How in the world do we put this on? And more importantly, what do we do with the dirty ones?"

“Not the ones you are thinking, huntsman,” she said, rolling her eyes as she shook her head. “I really don’t think you want to know the other reasons,” she told him. Emma figured if she told him what Regina said then he would want to know how the two started already with their fighting. Then that would lead to her having to tell him about the incident in the kitchen and Emma speaking the truth about the bitch. A whole lot of things would need to be cleared up and she figured maybe he would let it drop.

Emma didn’t bite her tongue quick enough at his comment, “Really? I thought it was going to have wild animals jumping out of it.” Her tone was teasing, but she couldn’t help herself with the comment, giving him a cheeky little smile.

“How about this?” She started since she knew how to make him do the dirty work and her still able to help out. “I’ll change him, but you take the dirty one and go get rid of it somewhere else,” Yes, that would give him the gross part while all she had to do was take the dirty one off and put the clean one on. “Do we have ourselves a deal?”

"Oh? And how do you know what I was thinking, Deputy?"

He raised an eyebrow at her playfully before scrunching his face into distaste.

"So...you're going to clean him, but I have to find somewhere to get rid of his poopy diaper? Um...I'm guessing you can't just flush the down the toilet, either?"

“Because you’re a guy and even though you’re a fairy tale character you were still in my world for a while so you’re probably still like one of the guys and your mind went dirty,” she teased, smiling at him before giving him another look. “Hey now, I’m sheriff now so watch it. Maybe I’ll arrest you and show you what that’s like,” she was glad that he knew when to pull off the serious subjects. He knew that she pushed away when she didn’t want to talk about something and was glad he didn’t push.

At him going over the idea, she smiled like it was the best idea in the world until the question about the toilet. “Unless you want a mini flood in here and I’ll be leaving,” she told him with a nod. “No, go find somewhere on the train to trash it and I’ll clean him up. Deal or no deal?” She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Fine!" He said in mock-exasperation, grinning at her. "Fine, it's a deal. You clean him up, I find some way to dispose of the dirty diaper. Then we...find a place to put him to sleep and I get you a drink for your trouble."

Yeah, okay, maybe his mind had gone there. A little.

When he gave into the deal, she put her hands together and waved them in the air like people were cheering for her after she won that. Then she moved to turn the baby so he was facing her on the bed as she thought this through. She might not have ever had a baby, but she did know the stories from other people about how boy babies had a habit of peeing the second their diaper was off. Thinking it through, she started to take off the dirty diaper but she lifted it up a bit as she heard the pee hit the dirty diaper instead of her. Emma was actually quite proud of herself for thinking that one through and once he was done, she slowly pulled it away from the baby to hand to the huntsman. “Go have fun searching for a place to throw it out.”

Once he took it, she moved to make sure the baby was all cleaned up and everything before looking over the new diaper. This couldn’t be that hard. Looking it over she found it took her a little longer then probably most, but she finally figured it out. Lifting the baby up, she put the diaper under him then worked on changing him. Emma was even more proud of herself when she did it all by herself, moving to sit on the bed as she picked up the little one. “Doesn’t that feel good?” She asked considering the huntsman hadn’t returned yet. Emma started to bounce him slightly on her knee, waiting for him to return as she kept the baby busy.

It took the Huntsman a long, disgusting amount of time to find a receptacle in which to place the disgusting diaper. He had never dreamed in all of his life that such a tiny creature could cause so much stink. Perhaps he should be glad that he had never had one of these before he...well.

Once he had disposed of it, he made his way back to his room, going immediately to the bathroom to wash his hands, just in case he had touched it at some point. When he came out, he couldn't help but smile at the way Emma was bouncing the baby on her knee, and it made him feel something very warm and...happy deep inside. Even if he didn't, technically, have a heart. He watched for a long moment, enjoying that tender feeling.

Emma found it amusing that she was able to convince the huntsman to go get rid of the dirty diaper. At least she didn’t have to deal with the smell or trying to get find a spot to get rid of it. When he came back, she couldn’t help but laugh at how he went into the bathroom to wash his hands. At the sight of him, she saw the smile and he still had such an adorable smile that could get anyone weak in the knees.

“See told you I could get people to do things for me without wearing the uniform,” she told him with a cocky little smirk as she reminded him when he tried to get her in the uniform for work. Wasn’t going to happen since she was comfortable in what she wanted to wear. “But what has you all smiles?” She asked before stopping with the knee. “Okay, come take your baby since the train gave him to you for some reason,” she didn’t see him as a problem with kids, but she didn’t like that Regina had one. No, Emma knew what that woman was like and didn’t like the idea of her maybe hurting a baby. “Where did you get rid of the diaper?”
