Characters: Margaret and Open
When: Wednesday evening
Location: The training room
Warnings/Rating: None as of right now
Summary: Maggie is blowing off some steam by some target practice.
Status: Open and ongoing.

This place really wasn’t the type of place Maggie felt comfortable at. No, she was the type that was more for the simple stuff instead of all this craziness causing her to be rather on edge for reasons other than waiting for something bad to happen. This was the type of place she knew she would never be able to afford or if she could it wasn’t somewhere she would go. Maggie was a simple girl who wasn’t all fond of this place like so many other people were. Yes, the place was nice, but she wasn’t comfortable in places like this which was causing her to kind of just wander without really doing much. The pool was nice, but she wasn’t in the mood to go relax by it for some sun. Shopping used to be fun when she was younger only she wasn’t a girly girl or all that crazy for shopping. She bought what she needed and that was it for her unless she needed more weapons before she left.

Most of her time was spent just walking around the place in her tank top and jeans, but she was tired of seeing the same thing all the time. With a sigh, she decided to go practice on her shooting as a way to say she did something while in this stupid place. Her big gun was staying here and only took one of her smaller guns with her to the room that she could program into a gun range. Part of her felt bad about using her ammo, but she could get more since it wasn’t like she had a crossbow to take some anger out with. Nope, her gun was all she had and this would help with the stress she had. Moving up to the line, she aimed her gun for the target as she held her stance without so much as a problem. Her thoughts went to Pope’s brother and his friend who hurt her as she took a few shots at the target. Not even one miss and they were all kill shots as she smirked. Still had it even after all this time of not practicing.

Artemis had found the practice range useful. Her powers in that regard were still intact, but that didn't mean she couldn't set up some challenges for herself. She was standing on her head, with her legs crossed, shooting behind her at the target. Propping up her bow and arrow was slightly more difficult in this situation, but Artemis managed.

She was just about to shoot when she heard shots from further down the range. Frowning slightly, (not because she would have been distracted from the shot, but because she wasn't keen on the sound of gunfire), she decided to investigate.

She could see the woman shooting, and could see that all the shots were well-aimed.

"You are very skilled," Artemis offered by way of greeting.

Maggie was sure other people were in here, but she really wasn’t paying all that much attention because it was a way to burn off some steam. With all the stress of waiting for the bad to show up around here along with her thoughts this was really helping her relax. Her way of relaxing before the alien attack had been to go throw a baseball with a guy friend or go for a job though a war changes a person. Now guns were her way of relaxing or feeling better.

The way surprised her a bit because even though she knew others were in here, she didn’t expect anyone to stop and chat with her. Turning around to face another woman caused her to smile slightly. It was nice to know other women knew how to use weapons considering most of the people fighting in her group were men. She knew they had a few women, but in the fighting group it was more men than anything. “Thanks,” she said with a smile. “Having fun with your weapon of choice?” If she was in here she had to be doing the same thing whether it was a gun or something else.

“Oh, and I’m Margaret but I go by Maggie,” she knew the whole introducing yourself was part of the whole meeting people, but she sometimes forgot or didn’t trust a person enough.

"I was lucky enough to be carrying my bow when the train took me," Artemis said, regarding the woman in front of her curiously. Most people would have been surprised to see a child with bow and arrows, but Artemis was finding out that the places these humans and creatures had been pulled from were radically different from the human environs she was accustomed to.

"I've been attempting to challenge myself in fun ways," Artemis continued. "Moving targets would be better situated to me." Actual hunting, not shooting at a make-pretend target. She could replenish whatever she killed, and she was certain once on the train her skills would be appreciated.

"I am Artemis," she said, warming to the woman in front of her.

“Yeah, I was lucky enough to have my guns with me when the train took me. I have two others in my room besides this one that I’m glad came with me,” she said with a smile. Maggie didn’t go around pointing her gun at everyone, but she kept them on her for protection. After everything that had been going on in her world, she wanted to know they were on her just in case. If the train could pull her then why not Pope who probably still wanted her dead or the two men that she killed? Yeah, she was going to keep her weapons close by just for those reasons. The kid with a bow surprised her a bit just because she was used to seeing kids with guns. “What were you doing that you had a bow for? I haven’t used a crossbow or a bow and arrow for so long,” she said with a small laugh. God that just made her sound so old when she really wasn’t that old.

“And what kind of fun ways is that?” She asked, raising an eyebrow at what this girl might have thought of. “Eh, I’m not picky as long as I have something I can take my stress out on and that target was the unlucky…” she almost swore until she remembered this was a kid, “thing.”

The name was weird but a pretty one, “You have a very pretty name, Artemis.” With females, Maggie didn’t have an issue with though most tend to avoid her because of all the tattoos and types of clothes she wore causing them to find her weird. Guys were the ones she had a hard time of trusting after everything.

Artemis found herself liking this Maggie woman, who understood that only she could defend herself. Had they not been in such a strange place, she would have offered the woman to join as one of her Hunters.

"Where I'm from we don't use those sorts of weapons," Artemis said, indicating to the gun. "My arrows were given to me by my father shortly after my birth. I like setting up unique ways to hit the target, though my aim is always true. Your aim is to be commended."

Artemis didn't much care for Maggie's way of dress one way or the other; what was important was the skill she was showing.

Maggie had never been one for weapons, but she learned quickly with the alien attack along with feeling very unsafe with the men that she had been with. Things didn’t get any better once she knew how to protect herself until she finally killed the two men, but she could take care of herself.

“Why not? If you don’t mind me asking,” Maggie was rather curious about that whole thing. “Nice little gift from your dad. How long have you been using the bow and arrow if you were given them at such a young age?” Maggie never really had her parents around, but she really didn’t think her parents would give her a weapon. Her grandma only gave her a knife when she hit high school as protection in case someone tried to hurt her. “Thanks. Yeah, in my world right now guns are an important every day thing if you want to survive. The bow and arrow type stuff is only good if you’re trying to do a sneak attack.” That brought back the memory of Maggie trying to teach Hal how to use one when he was determined to sneak in and get his brother back. Didn’t work, but she knew that if she needed one that she was safe.

After a moment she decided to ask the question that was on the tip of her tongue. “How old are you? I mean I don’t really care, but more I’m a curious person.”
