So used to life on the lam, constantly moving, never staying in one place, for five years of her life, in order to stay alive. The sedentary life on the train was a little harder to settle into than she thought it would be. Even with Daryl to occupy her, she couldn't stay in her room all day everyday. That was just... Antisocial behavior. Even if she wasn't a social butterfly. So she ventured back to the rear kitchen, simply because she felt... unwelcome in the front. Which was insane, because there wasn't a car that belonged to a single person. Still... Bad feelings often made for bad food. And Maryanne wasn't having any of that. She'd made friends, and they were good friends. What did she care that Red judged her without knowing her? The few people who really knew her, knew she wasn't a bad person. And that was what mattered. It didn't matter if the other mutants didn't get along with her. Even if it hurt. The people who mattered were the ones that she'd met, the ones that would have her back just as quick as she'd have theirs. People she could count on, rather than people she couldn't. It didn't matter if they were antagonists in their world. Because she knew, rather than sit on their asses and smoke cigars while everyone else on the train died, they would stand up, and lead the charge to keep everyone safe. Even the people they hated. Maryanne took out her frustrations at her own... breed, on the dough, pounding it mixing it, and flattening it. Curling it into little balls... Everything it took to make the Monkey Bread. At the moment she was trying to prepare the topping but kept coming up empty, there was something missing and she couldn't figure out what it was. |
