It was him. It really was. She knew the sound of his voice, the way he spoke; no Syndicate trick could replicate it. She wanted to faint, to drop against the wall in relief, to do something dramatic, but no. She had to stay calm. "I'm missing time too, Mulder," she said quietly. "I'm missing ten years."
"I don't know what's going on here," she said after a momentary fight to keep her composure. "Mulder, I just got here a few days ago. It happened to me too. I came here looking for you and suddenly I--I woke up in a hotel room. I don't know if it's a kidnapping ring... Something the Syndicate... Mulder, where are you?" She looked around herself. "Where are you in town?"
Please let it be him, she begged silently, even though she wasn't a begging woman. Please let it really be Mulder, please let him find me, please let me have finally found him. After these past few years she didn't want to be disappointed again.
