246 – You can totally predict the main driving force that will eventually tear DeRo 1.0 apart from the content of this episode. As Deniz headbangs and flips around and taunts cops at his party, Roman is having a quiet (if late-night) dinner with his roommates. The two scenes couldn't be much more contradictory, or the respective behaviors of our future OTP. Deniz is at his youngest and most obnioxious while Roman is trying to swank up the place. It's such a great microcosm of their relationship which hasn't even started yet. Foreshadowing FTW!
While I admire your policy of understanding and tolerance, Nadja, I might feel the need to question my boyfriend about his jail time. I promise it's not nosy or intrusive, ok? We all know Marian's a good guy (for now), but once a prison past comes up in a relationship, it's worth finding out what the sitch is.
Also, I just want to cuddle Annette to pieces. Unrequited love never fails to break me. :'(
247 – This is our first real introduction to Simone in EKP time, and she is pretty much the opposite of how she'll be from now on (humble and apologetic). In fact, she kind of saves the day for poor Roman (and Diana too of course) by getting Nadja at least to not abandon our poor skaters right before their big competitive skate (the World Championships?). Mike is, of course, nowhere to be seen, which is pretty much his Modus Operandi as a trainer. (Not that it makes me love him and his douchy assholery any less.) I know at least one certain someone has repeatedly claimed that Roman is a bitchy character, but I can see no reason for him not to huff about losing his choreographer only days after his trainer disappears somewhere, and both because of ridiculous personal issues. That's not bitchy, that's reasonable.
248 – Deniz as blustery brat is both infuriating and awesome. The former because duh, the later because we know where it's really coming from and oh man does it hurt. Marian's still a great dad, but with his patience running thin it's damn lucky for Deniz that Nadja is there to be amazing. Without her I think this storyline would have ended much more quickly, before DeRo even had a chance to exist… much as Simone later plays a hand in smooshing the boys together and making smoochy sounds in 2.0.
Igor Dolgatschew does the most brilliant wobbly-lip acting I've seen since Claire Danes in… well, anything really.
249 – Kuele breaks out his very first Perfectly Timed Coffee Cup of Sympathy for Marian. <3333333333333
Ugh, Deniz. I'm not sure where to spend my energy: cuddling you or kicking your mother out on her horrible cow ass. Maybe I can manage both…
The beginning of Deniz's past coming back to haunt him. Frankly this just makes me want to read this fic all over again because it's basically become canon in my head. (Really you should wait until we've watched up to 297 before you read it tho, or else you'll just end up wanting to skip to the 300's LOL.) Now we get some previews of Deniz's violent resistance to Roman's mostly (well… ok, slightly) innocent advances in a few weeks.
One thing that's interesting to think about is how he does react differently with Roman than he did in Munich… apparently he put two kids in the hospital and scared a teacher enough that he requested a transfer. Yet somehow he's unable to follow through with Bulle's plan to beat up Roman. What's changed between then and… er, well, a few weeks in the future? We'll have to watch carefully and see. :D
