Hot kisses with your best friend
"Alles was zählt" is celebrating a landmark! Four years ago, AWZ went on air as RTL's third daily show. setting new standards in directing, editing and music dramaturgy from day one. Just a few weeks after it first aired in 2006, AWZ successfully established itself as the No. 2 of German soaps behind GZSZ, surpassing all other daily soaps. Since then it has been a constant in RTL's daily programming. On August 30, episode 1000 will air. Plenty of reason for EXIT to visit their favourite actors, Dennis Grabosch and Igor "Sexiest Soapstar" Dolgatschew.
With intense stories, a modern look and lots of German music, AWZ conquers the hearts of its fans every night. Dennis Grabosch (Roman Wild) says, "Roman and Deniz' relationship is now an established part of the show. What AWZ made possible for us as the story progressed, the development of the characters and the kind of things we were able to show is something I wouldn't have thought possible back at the beginning. I'm very grateful to AWZ for that, and we are proud of that."
The episodes that showed Deniz having unsafe sex with another model while on drugs, and the resulting rapid HIV test turning out negative, were particularly affecting. Igor's acting throughout his PEP therapy believably showed that this form of medication, which attempts to prevent a possible infection from settling in, is not a "happy hour cocktail." Igor says, "Dennis and I are very insistent about terminology like HIV vs. AIDS being used correctly on the show. We care a lot about maintaining the continuity of our roles. We can get pretty stubborn about that. But on AWZ we're lucky enough to work with a team of writers and directors who are always open to our suggestions and improvements, which are often implemented." When Igor watched the episode afterwards, he got goose bumps: "It's really something if that happens to me with my own character."
This is where some readers might ask, "Uhm, aren't Roman and Deniz stuck in a massive crisis? Why are they blissfully united on the EXIT cover?" Is that the way the wind is blowing? Admittedly, a reconciliation between Roman and Deniz seems less likely than ever. After their painful break-up several weeks ago, too much has happened between them. They hardly even talk anymore. But Roman keeping up the distance between them hits Deniz harder than expected. Will Deniz take a leap of faith and take a step towards Roman? We can give away one thing: In episodes 1000 and 1001, Christina Stürmer and her band will be introducing two brand new songs from their new album "Nahaufnahme," which will come out on September 24. And who may the script for episode 1001 be referring to when it says, "Both are lying next to each other. No thoughts. Wordlessly happy."?
Die-hard AWZ viewers will happily remember Deniz and Roman's hot shower scene in episode 751 (if you missed it, we highly recommend Eskimo Kiss Project, the official AWZ channel on YouTube!*). In real life, Dennis and Igor get along swimmingly. "Igor is an angel," enthuses Dennis. "I knew early on that he was a young, talented actor, and after three years of working together I can say that we are totally on a par in our acting. As a result, he almost knows me better than some people who think they do. We've become real friends. Igor is my best friend." When you see these two on and off the set, you can tell those are not empty phrases.
*As luck would have it, that's the one episode some twit felt compelled to flag, so it was removed from our channel. However, you can view it here or here.
