The great AWZ exodus of 2010 continues...
...and this one's a seriously hard blow for the Igloo :(
Silvia Maleen seeks a change of scene and is leaving AWZ.
We were all set to abduct her and keep her in a forest cabin and feed her strawberries and never let her leave (even if Jenny and Marian break up another 317 times), but then Det. Koch called and apparently that's a crime or something. Spoilsport, that Det. Koch.
But but but... SILVIA! :( Crying bitter tears here. We even put on mascara specially for this occasion so we could be properly soot-cheeked in our grief :(
Show definitely won't be the same without her.
"I’m an actress, not Jenny Steinkamp!"
After two years of playing scheming Jenny Steinkamp on "Alles was zählt", Silvia Maleen wants to breathe some fresh air into her acting career. So she's going to leave the show this autumn to face new challenges. Silvia tells us more:
Why did you decide to leave "Alles was zählt"?
I'm looking for new roles and new stories. My two years as Jenny Steinkamp were very fulfilling and I was very grateful to the producers for giving me the opportunity to help develop my part into a layered character. That's not a given on a soap. Still, I'm an actress, not Jenny Steinkamp, and I'd like to try out other parts. I didn't get a chance to do that while working on "Alles was zählt" because the workload is very time-consuming, so I had to refuse some interesting offers. That's why I've decided to close the AWZ door to give other doors a chance to open.
What are your plans for the future – more television or theatre?
Although I find stage acting very interesting too, my focus is more on films and television. I'd like to make some new contacts, gather experience on other sets and be more flexible as an independent actress in my availability for other projects than I've been so far. In the immediate future, though, I'm going to play Silvia Maleen on my own personal stage. I'm planning an extended vacation with my family in Austria. After that, I'm excited to see what new opportunities will present themselves.
What do your personal plans for the future look like – things like marriage and children?
They're both on my wish list, definitely – but only when the time is right. I'm a family person through and through, and eventually I do want to start my own family. But at the moment, that will still have to wait for a while.
What's your biggest goal in life?
My biggest goal is to be able to reconcile my professional activities with my personal interests and to be happy doing that.
Whom or what are you going to miss most?
My colleagues, first of all. For example, I have a very good relationship with my show mother, Tatjana Clasing, so that will make the goodbye a melancholy one. And there are some very lovely people on the production team that I'm going to think of often. I'll probably only find out what else I'm going to miss once I'm gone.
How does Jenny leave the show?
I'm not giving that away! Just this much: After thinking about it thoroughly, Jenny decides to start a new life beyond the Steinkamp Centre, together with Marian, the love of her life.
ETA: Sam Eisenstein is NOT leaving. That was only a rumour people started based on Silvia's comment about Jenny *wanting* to start a new life with Marian.
