    Art for Escapade!
Escapade is coming up fast … the end of February is just a little over two months away! That means it's time to start planning the magnificent fanart you'll be bringing to the Art Show! The Escapade art show is a place to share and celebrate fannish and fannish-related art, crafts, merchandise, and other items. Beginner or expert, traditional or new media*, all kinds of fan-made art are welcome!

    * If you own a digital photo frame you'd be willing to lend or donate to the Art Show, let us know! We're going to try and experiment with a few digital-only display pieces.

    One Week to Escapade!

Is it really one week out?!?! We’re very excited, and hope you are, too. Here are the things you might want on your radar:

    • Are you packed? Weather Underground predicts clear but cool weather (highs 55-60, lows 37-45). Bring a jacket.
    • Do you have your travel handled? If you’re still looking for a ride/roomie, drop us an email with your needs/times/whatever, and we’ll assemble the list to see who we can hook up.
    • Are your friends coming? Check the list! If they’re not, it’s not too late. Invite them to join you. Give them a ride!
    • Keep your eyes out for a badge confirmation email. We’ll be sending them out this weekend. All attending members will receive individualized emails with a mock-up of your Escapade badge. Please check the spelling of your name, etc., and let us know ASAP if we need to make any changes.
    • Fannish recycling! Remember to bring things for the Slash Swap Meet! It’s your chance to clear out your closet, and bring home new treasures.
    • Consider dropping by for early registration on Thursday evening from 8-9 PM.

What are you doing to get ready for Escapade? Comment/respond and let us know!

    Schedule Posted. Alternate Programming Available!

We have just posted the Escapade Schedule. Be sure to review all 3 pages of the worksheet (Fri/Sat/Sun) and start to plan your weekend. In addition to the panels you’ll recognize from the ballot, you’ll also see a bunch of blocks marked “Available” (some with video, and some without). These are the places for you to add your own pet panel/game/vid show/bitchfest that didn’t make the main programming.

If you want to schedule an Alt/DIY panel into one of the available timeslots, send us an email, and let us know. Include the following info:

    • Badge name(s) of leader(s)
    • Name of your panel
    • Brief description
    • First and second choice timeslots.

We’ll update the online schedule as we fill the available slots on a first-come, first-served basis. Note: alternate programming signups received by Monday noon will be included in the program book. After that, we’ll continue to fill requests as spaces are available, but you’ll get less publicity.

    Thanks re: Hotel Rooms

We got the information we needed, found out that the hotel had lost count of several reservations, and some of you who hadn’t reserved yet took action. We have met our room block requirements for the contract. Thanks for your quick response on this! –Jennifer

    URGENT: Hotel Reservations/Confirmations

Hi, everyone! We got some disturbing news from the hotel on Friday. For some reason, they have very few room reservations for Escapade in their database. We think this must be a mistake, because we know how many of you are planning to be there in a couple of weeks. The reason that this matters is that if there are not enough rooms reserved for Escapade, they will charge us THOUSANDS of dollars more than we’re planning to pay them (which is already in a very large chunk of change).

So, if you didn’t just get an email from me that says: “You are on the confirmed hotel list for Escapade,” can you please drop an email to info@escapadecon.net with the name your reservation is under and, if you have it, your confirmation number? If, for some reason you haven’t made your reservation yet, please do that right away (http://escapadecon.net/hotel/), and then send us your confirmation number. If you have any trouble dealing with the hotel, let us know that, too, so we can help get things settled.

    Thanks so much! –Jennifer

    Escapade Genius Lounge

    Dearest Escapade Attendees:

Many of you have kept up with all the comings and goings of modern technology.

Many of us have not, and desperately need friendly fannish folks who are willing to share their knowledge in exchange for fannish comaraderie and maybe the pimping of fandoms at the same time.

The Plan: we will open the Escapade Genius Lounge for a few hours each day, and stock it with super rewards like secret cookies and sodas.

    Technical Difficulties: Post Distribution

We just figured out that posts that were supposed to be delivered to the website, the journals, and all our information channels had gotten jammed up in WordPress. So now we’ll be reposting several items from the last week, and extending the panel deadline (again) to try to catch the last few suggestions. Watch for more info shortly…
