Summary: Zach wants to see Penny again and so he does something he has never done (willingly) before – he asks her out.

Dear Penelope,

I hope this letter finds you well. I'm writing to thank you for lunch the other week, I had a very pleasant time and hope you did too. It's not often I get the pleasure of such intelligent company.

Provided, of course, that you had as pleasant a time as I did, I would very much like to see you again sometime soon. Perhaps you would consider coming with me to the Clio Wing this weekend? I hear they have an exciting new exhibit from Egypt about the powerful witch Hatshepsut and her reign over the Muggles of her time. She's said to be quite skilled at charms in fact. Would you do me the honour of accompanying me?

Sincerely,
Zacharias

Dear Zacharias,

As this owl finds me knee deep in books I recovered from an antique sale this afternoon in Brussels, then yes, I am very well and as you'd gather, very happy.

I had a lovely time at lunch with you and would love to accompany you to the new exhibit. Unfortunately I haven't had time to go to any of the exhibitions they've held there since October of last year, but the one about Hatshepsut sounds fascinating. Perhaps the Museum will do a special offer on some reproductions of papyrii from her time?

Thank you very much for asking me, perhaps you would like to make an evening of it and join me for a quiet glass of wine at one of the nearby wine bars? My treat of course, as you would provide the scintillating company and conversation. Do let me know what day and time would suit you.

Best Wishes,

Penelope

PS: Dare I ask how the charm went? Is everything beautifully sorted?

Dear Penelope,

That sounds absolutely wonderful. If you need any help in organising things, I am offering my services.

I'm delighted that you will accompany me, and I'm certain that the museum should have something like that. If not you should suggest it. It would be a fascinating read, I'm sure. It's a shame you have not been able to attend an exhibit for so long, and I will certainly make it my duty to see that you are able to attend more of them in the future. Consider it my friendly pledge.

I would of course love to have wine with you after the exhibit, though of course I would never ask you to pay for me. I would be delighted to go with you anyway, in fact I'd be delighted to pay for the both of us if you'd let me. It's just the way I was raised.

Would you possibly have time tomorrow? I know it is short notice (again) so if you'd prefer Sunday I'll leave that up to you. Shortly after lunch, perhaps? That way we have plenty of time before they close.

Sincerely,
Zacharias

PS: Unfortunately I've hit an unexpected snag with the charm so far. Perhaps you could assist me once more some time and see where my error lies?

Dear Zacharias,

You are? Those are dangerous words to say to me, Mr Smith. You might just find yourself being taken up on them at the most inopportune times.

As you have been kind enough to remind me of this little thing called living outside of the shop, I shall buy the first bottle of wine, should we have cause for a second then you may purchase that. Does that seem fair?

I have a feeling that we might be making a regular outing of Intellectual Pursuits, and I am more than willing to split the costs with you. And trust me, I will be rooting around the shop for appropriate books, should I find one then I will point it out to you and if not, well perhaps I should write it myself!

Indeed I have time tomorrow. I can ask my assistant to handle the shop. She's terribly curious but I will inform her that I will be going to a place of culture with a very sweet and charming young gentleman I have had the great pleasure of getting to know.

Does 2pm suit you? We can meet by the statue of the roaring lion?

Best Wishes,

Penelope

PS: I'll bring some notes!

Dear Penelope,

I do not say words I do not stand behind, and yes, that does seem fair - this time. I shall warn you, however, I am a very traditional man, and do firmly believe the man should pay when asking a woman to do things with him. Since the wine was your suggestion, however, I am willing to make an exception.

Have you ever considered writing a book? It sounds very interesting indeed, and I'm sure you'd do a wonderful job. I will look forward to the first signed copy of your book.

Two o'clock sounds wonderful, and we can meet by the statue if that is suitable for you. I look forward to meeting you tomorrow, and thank you so very much for the offer of the notes, I deeply appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Zacharias
