Summary: Ernie misses his best gal pal.
Ernie took great pride in his flat. He liked nice things, but nice didn't necessarily mean expensive. When he had the time, he loved combing those muggle street fairs for one of a kind items. His parents didn't know much about those things and always told Ernie to be careful when he mentioned them, but the former Hufflepuff had learned about them from a friend at Hogwarts and had grown addicted. And, really, he was learning to blend into muggle society better than he had as a youngster. He still didn't quite understand everything there and had to remind himself not to stare, but, for the most part, he thought he blended pretty darn well.
As he looked around his tidy place, he thought it was all worth it. He had his magical photographs sitting next to random muggle pieces, but he wouldn't want it any other way. Of course, his mother still thought black and white was too drab, but Ernie thought the basic color scheme was sensible and mature. He should invite Zacharias over. Ernie thought his friend would approve.
However, that evening he was waiting on Hannah. He really loved that girl and felt guilty for letting his job get in the way of friendship. Running into Smith and realizing Ernie barely saw him though they worked in the same building had been a rude awakening. So Ernie had written Hannah that letter. Running into her at the New Year's party and crashing her lunch meeting with Zach just wasn't enough. He needed his best gal.
He had prepared a whole chicken, potatoes, corn, and a vegetable soup for the occasion. Well, alright, his mother had made most of it while he aided her, but still. For an added treat, he had bought a melody of chocolate frogs which then sat on the table just like old times.
