Grounding & Protecting (Shielding)
I'd like to share with everyone my personal grounding and protecting exercise. An outline of this was given to me by a shamanic acquaintance online and I've since personalized it with the assistance of my guides. It's morphed through time, but the basics have helped me beyond measure.
There was a point where I G&Ped every morning, night, before I went out places, etc. Now I will do it if I feel energies pressing against me or if I do energy or healing work. At this point, my shields are self-sustaining and I clean/bolster them every now and again.
Grounding

After a lot of practice, G & P can be done in a matter of seconds. But, if you're trying this technique for the first time, do take your time.
I recommend starting with a comfortable position and then closing your eyes.
Grounding is the anchor that keeps us from floating away and keeps us centered so that things are in balance. When stress and other emotional factors afflict us, then we are thrown out of balance and into a kaleidoscope of confusion.
Visualize a white light above your head (I say ‘white’ by default, yours may end up being another color, use whatever is comfortable…the way I see colors changes with each person…).
Trust that there will always be someone or something watching over you to provide this white light. It’s a concentrated energy that will assist in grounding and eventually shielding. As you read this we are providing the light for you, but please do add your own light energy. If this is difficult, other sources can be utilized for energy, such as a candle flame, music that speaks to your soul (have the song’s music or the lyrics wrap around you), or the following minerals/crystals (these are also good protection stones and should be cleansed with water every so often if you happen to have any of them):
Clear quartz
Obsidian/Apache Tears
Snowflake Obsidian
Orange calcite
Moonstone
Carnelian
Hematite
Lapis Lazuli
Turquoise
Red agate
(other minerals may be used and other methods of cleansing may be utilized as well)
Once the white light is ‘seen’, see it penetrating the body starting with your head, down to your shoulder to your fingers, down the chest, the legs, and down to your toes. Have the light branch out from your feet like roots and continue down into the earth to the core, which is surrounded by a golden light.
The golden light envelopes the white and upon reaching your feet creates a connection that has the roots branched into the earth. The golden light surrounds you and you are grounded.
Seeing yourself as stable and centered will bring you balance as well.
Protecting
Again, start the same as your grounding, with the white light above your head…created by whatever you see fit as energy. It forms a bubble and gently descends around you (or if you like motion, step into the bubble). If you prefer, have it conform to your body and then extend outward.
This shield will only let in what you wish, allow you keep in whatever you wish, and if necessary can send out positively charged energy toward negative energy.
My shielding is all about layers. Start with one or two…or if you feel ambitious, make as many as you need. For myself, I see the basic three layers. One that’s always around you, close to the body; one that’s further out as a silhouette further protecting the body; and one that’s the in-between…mist-like energy that can thicken or thin depending on circumstance and can be sent out if needed. Additional layers can be added and size can also change depending on the amount of energy that the body has.
Also, the more rubbery your shields are the better. You don't want emotions slamming against your shields so hard that they'll shatter. Instead, make them a consistency of rubber so that any emotions that are not yours will be bounced away.
Savor each wonderful moment during the day, do something you enjoy and ‘log it’ into your shield. If the day is utter crap, then reach into the memories and utilize them. This will help you conserve.
Music, stories, artwork, talking with someone, etc. creates certain vibrations within that to create energy that can be used to make shields.
If all else fails, distraction with the above is recommended. If the mind focuses on something other than that which stresses, then the body will rebuild. It may take time, but rebuild it shall.
Being that many are highly sensitive, regardless of strong shields. Distance from the event or person of overwhelming emotions is recommended. Take a bath or shower or bathe in music to cleanse yourself of the emotion and to establish your own. Water is particularly helpful (drinking it in and being surrounded in it).
Unfortunately we cannot predict when something somewhere will take a jab at the shields to utterly destroy them…but know there is always some semblance of a shield remaining that can be used.
Have faith in yourselves because someone, somewhere will always have faith in you. ^____^
