A heavy Mist has settled over the city throughout the day, making visibility very difficult in all districts. As such, once the disruption starts occurring throughout the Tenement District, it doesn't become immediately apparent as to what precisely is happening. A few members of the EKP are about for patrols, however, the situation quickly escalates beyond their ability to control it. The initial group of thieves attacking the woman have been dispatched as well, and it seems those who try to approach are met with aggression.
THE ENEMIES.
Famfrit: By appearances it seems to be an unknown monster; how it was summoned in the city is anyone's guess. The creature is over twice the size of a hume, is entirely encased in an armor laced with wards (the ancient and powerful magic binding them is evident to practiced mages but any attempt to try and undo them is met with certain failure). Whatever it looks like underneath is unknown, but those who approach it have two things to compete with. The creature's weapon, a giant ewer chained to the creature's gauntlet, from which a magical attack is cast (Briny Cannonade, a water-based cannon attack) Waterja (a high level water-based spell that has a chance of inflicting Silence) and Tsunami (a very high level water-based attack), widespread and potent that will push back large groups of attackers and damage nearby buildings and property. The longer the fight lasts, the more damage to the district is incurred. While the creature takes considerably effort to defeat, it does seem to be weak to fire magic. However, the more fire is used in the open streets, the greater risk to property damage and the lives of innocent bystanders occurs. Visibility is terrible in this fight, and those engaging in battle will have difficulty relying on sight alone to know when the creature is casting. NOTE: This battle will be NPC'd by the mods (a thread will be posted and labeled accordingly), and those entering in the drawing must participate in the fighting to be considered eligible.
The Scientist: While the hume traveler has a pretty impressive aim with her pistol, employs a respectable amount of time magic (slow, stop) and will defend herself accordingly, she can be taken down with a reasonable amount of force. However, once Famfrit has been summoned, a paling washes over the human, denying any advances. To destroy the paling and dispatch the scientist, however, first the combatants must destroy the:
Water Elementals: Two have appeared in defense of the scientist, and once they are defeated, the paling around the hume will fall. However, elementals are far from easy opponents. They each will cast Watera, Shell, Protect, Silence and Sleep. NOTE: This battle will not be NPC'd, and is open for everyone to participate in and decide the outcome (as with the scientist).
Q & A!
Question! Can anyone identify the name/type of creature the esper is, and/or its weaknesses? Answer! Not at this time. This creature, and its like, has not been seen by any living humes for centuries, and are considered even rarer than summons. Also, as the Mist has become incredibly dense, it will be hindering Analyze. Libra will not provide much of anything, as again, this creature is not unlike any other worldly creature, but the weaknesses to fire will be apparent to those in battle.
Question! Are there other means to contribute during this fight? Answer! YES. This incident will be occurring in a heavily populated district, and damage to the surrounding buildings, whether by the enemies or by spells and/or summons being flung about in the streets, will have an effect. Civilians need to be evacuated from the scene if possible, if characters would like to participate in that manner as well. Also, for characters living in the Tenement District, things could potentially get very interesting!
Question! Since the Mist is heavy, and communication will be scattered at best because of the interference, how well can everyone get organized? Answer! This is not an ideal situation. A surprise attack inside the city, at night with added poor visibility due to the Mist, in a heavily populated district is unfavorable enough, but guild responses will be uncoordinated at best, scrambling around at worst. By morning the Mist will receed and communication will go back to normal, but there will be difficulty in determining what happened the night before.
Question! How loud is the battle going to be/how much noise will the Esper be making as it claws its way through the district? Answer!Loud. This is going to be a huge fight with entire hunks of buildings being ripped out. This is a big, scary, and quite frankly highly dangerous situation. Character who live in the Bazaar and Theater districts will be able to hear the commotion with a fair amount of ease.
Question! Whoa! A new damage table?! Answer! Yup! At different points during the game, we will be changing the damage table to reflect how deeply serious the events going on at the time are, or to show how much more dangerous plot has just gotten and how much harder the character’s will need to fight to stay alive during the course of the game. You thought things were bad before? Well, we’re just getting started~!
Question! Can my character somehow force the ECN to work? Answer! No, seriously. That shit’s down for the count.
Question! Can my character be a total badass and kick the shit out of the Esper? Answer! You can fight against the Esper, form parties (yes multiple RESPOND TO THE FAMFRIT POST WITH THE APPROPRIATE HEADERS--PARTY ONE: THEO, GUY, PARTY TWO; LEX, GILLIAN ETC.) to take it on, etc, but just getting up in it’s face and beating it down in a few rounds isn’t going to be the case for this one. Sorry guys!
Question! If I have a Summon/Esper/Super Special SnowFlake powers can I have any additional knowledge about all of this? Answer! Nope! That’s not how this works~ However, if you do have a summon, you should ping the mods real quick if - and only if - the character you have with the summon is engaging in the fight!
Question! Can I win the Esper? Answer! Yes! We’ll be determining this just as we have been determining the winner of the Summons. If you have any more questions surrounding this, please look below for the full outline of all information.
Question! Who can put in for the Esper? Answer! The only people who can’t put in for potentially winning the Esper are those who already have a character with an Esper or Summon in game already. Everyone else is welcome to take a whack at trying to win this sucker!
Question! Questions? Party Formation? Number guesses? Answer! Just like before put them under the appropriately headed comment on this post please and/or just go with the flow of how things have gone in the past. No new surprises here gang. Party formation works like it always has too~
Battle damage!
And as a reminder! For those characters participating in this event, we've set up for your character to receive a randomized damage roll based upon this chart which you can modify as desired! Or! If you don’t want your character to participate/don’t feel they would, feel free to delete them from the sheet!~
1 - Scratches, very minor cuts, bruises - You can sleep it off. 2 - Muscle tears, minor cuts, moderate bruises, hairline fractures. 3 - Minor fractures, moderate cuts/small wounds, large sections of bruising. 4 - Moderate fractures, moderate wounds. 5 - Serious fractures, large wounds. 6 - Compound fractures, significant bleeding, mix of all the below~ 7 - Crushed bones, gaping wounds, close to losing conscious/unconscious but stable~ 8 - Unconscious, potentially half hanging off limbs (can be fixed!), any of the previous things/combo of them, bleeding~ (but won't die).
And! If you have any questions, please, feel free to drop us a note here under the "Questions" comment so that we can keep everything neat and tidy and easy to find. Please and thank you!
Esper Information
• As with the summons, if you would like to enter a character into the drawing, please respond to the appropriate comment below with a number between 1-100 (and be ready to send them into the fight, they can’t be skipping around with magical fairies in the nobles district and win guise~)!
• As an Esper is a very powerful being, if one was to bond with one they would be putting themselves in a unique and also dangerous position. The bond is permanent and can have serious mental effects on the character in question as such. PLEASE TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION BEFORE ENTERING A CHARACTER INTO THE DRAWING.
• With regards to the mental effects an Esper will incur on the character, that is largely dependent on the player. However, it should be noted that they have now become spiritually bonded with, for all purposes, a fallen entity of varying degrees of evil, anger and avarice. As the plot will explore, this will not be an easy path for them, however we as mods do not want to enforce any dramatic changes of characterization or alignment. If there are questions about this, a player is welcome to contact the mod email account.
• Esper abilities. As these beings are incredibly powerful, once a player acquires an esper, we would ask them to be sure to contact the mod email for further advice in this regard.
