Azalea needed to have a spring name. Spring and flowers are a leitmotif I have going for her, so I pretty much googled 'spring flower names'. One site had both Azalea and Cerelia (put together, it means azalea of the spring), and I decided to put them together. It sounded stuffy and harmless—everything Lea is not, so it ties in with another of her themes (guileless deception).
Divina needed to have a dramatic Filipino name. Her last name, Marcos, is already very dramatic for anyone who speaks Filipino. It's the last name of a high-profile politico, corrupt and tyrannical—which is basically how I see the Emillion Marcos family as well. Anyway, after mulling over what would go with Marcos, I thought of Divina. It's the kind of name with a lot of presence and weight behind it, and it was a nice twist to have something of a religious name for a fell knight.
Storm came about as a joke between me and Ashley! We knew we were going to do Indian PB siblings, and then I figured, hey, all the best protagonists have weather names (Cloud, Lightning, Squall), so Storm, who I see as a bildungsroman protagonist, got his name off of that. We decided to make the whole weather name shindig a family trend—so Gale followed, and then later Cyclone.
