It appears as if the criminal has been performing a large arcane ritual to raise the undead in Emillion. These numbers, the people of the city will learn later, have been drawn from the Necrohol, with old graves now empty and the gates keeping them in now broken wide--a worse offense by far than the one before.
By the details of the robes and armor on these enemies, it also seems they've been dead for well over a few centuries, the serpentine emblems on their clothing belonging to old King Carudas II (for those who know their local history). The undead knights move about in a steady military formation on the streets, the mages numbering fewer but keeping close, and the ghosts moving freely throughout the alleys and, in some cases, even into buildings.
Widespread notice of the attack occurs once they've appeared on the streets to the Commoners District, and they'll continue advancing deeper into the city. None of the undead seem to be affected by status spells such as petrify or sleep, and are immune to dark magic.
Enemies!
ZOMBIE KNIGHTS: Kingsguard to old King Carudas II by the emblems on their surcoats (or whatever is left of them at this point), they were once led by Captain Jonathan Hardin. He apparently seems to be doing so here as well, for those who can recognize the Captain's ornate steel helmet, though killing him will only incense the rest of the knights. Many carry swords, shields and greatswords, and are still able to fight with the intensity they were famous for in life. Armor ranges from ragged chain-mail to various states of damaged plate. Weak to Fire and Holy (holy knights, this is your jam), they can be defeated with enough display of strength and effort.
ZOMBIE MAGES: Guild mages that once lived during the same time period, these number only half that of the knights, but are deadly efficient with magic. They're not as fast as the ghosts but they can evade better than the knights. They are weak to Fire and Holy, and can be hacked up if an opponent gets close enough. They will cast various black magic spells, such as Blizzard, Thunder and Dark.
GHOSTS: These are summoned souls of the deceased that have been bound into servitude. Whoever they were in life can't be determined as well as the others, but they are fast, agile and just as deadly. Physical attacks do the least amount of damage, and would be better dealt with by offensive magic. They will cast magic such as Dark and Blind.
Question! Who's controlling the zombies and ghosts!?!? Answer! o idk~ A bit more seriously there is also a Lich floating around that, if you can a glimpse of him floating between the buildings and down allyways, seems to be orchestrating the whole shebang.
Question! Can I fight the Lich?!? Answer! There maaaaayyyyyy be a post going up or a brief combat encounter with him if people reeaaalllly~ want to. He's mostly supposed to be background, but we're not against it.
Question! Do our characters know all the weaknesses of undead? Answer! Some might! Those who can scan/analyze will certainly be helpful in this fight! Though, those who have faced undead before and/or have been trained in holy magicks might have some clues too~
