Question! What's this about an exam? Answer! To ensure the Mages’ Guild is better prepared for any possible future threats to the city and the guild itself, a task force of mages is being created. This event is the practical portion of the exam to join the task force.
Question! Who can participate in this event? Answer! The only participants in this event will be current task force candidates, namely Guy Lenard (inspirers), Hippolyta Flynn (vexatiously), Lionel Baines (chivalries), Ophion Barnard (ophion), Sabina Domicetti (scarletsister), Siri D’Albis (siri) and Wilham Wolfe (abstention). Additionally, Toku Matsudaira (giri) and Vivian Xi, sage will be accompanying the group.
Question! What sort of mission is this? Answer! The group travelled to a cave in the Outlands this morning (Wednesday!) to complete a task. They entered the cave, dispatching low-level enemies on their way, and reached a chamber where a small WYRMLING sat protecting a small hoard. In the pile, there is a tome about magical theory. The group’s task is to retrieve the book intact. Whether they choose to do so by attacking the wyrmling or drawing its attention away from the hoard (or both!) is up to the party.
The WYRMLING is rather possessive, and would much rather see the book destroyed than in the party’s hands. It will try to retreat into the small tunnel behind it, taking its horde with it. It will attack the party with a combination of Fire Breath, Aero and Gust if threatened but will attempt to flee rather than engage them. It is weak to Water-elemental attacks, and immune to Petrify, Stop, Confuse, Disease, Disable, Immobilize, Silence, Sap, Lure, Berserk and Charm.
Question! Can the players move the wyrmling around in their tags? Answer! Nope, sorry. The players may only specify the actions/plans their characters choose to employ during their tags in order to obtain the book. The wyrmling will react to those and move during Toku’s tags. That is to say, the enemy (and other possible allies that may appear to aid the wyrmling) will be controlled by me, Toku’s player.
Question! What is this cavern like? Answer! Here’s a map.
The players would do well to remember they are inside a cave (and caves are tombs!) so any overly powerful spells that may shake the ground could provoke a cave-in, or at least make a few rocks fall.
One more thing: the ceiling of the room the characters find themselves in cannot be seen from where the characters stand; they can only see darkness overhead. As far as they know, there could be other enemies lurking in the dark, which may or may not come to the wyrmling’s aid.
Question! Since this is relevant to plot, are there any restrictions? Answer! We’ll be using the 24hr rule: that is to say, characters need to tag in within 24 hours after the previous character’s tag. If they cannot do this, the character’s turn will be skipped for that round.
