We've been on the run, driving in the sun, looking out for number one...
Who: Anyone in the area (Open)!
What: A summer holiday on the beach.
Where: Just outside the city.
When: Saturday.
Rating: PG/mark if higher.
Note: This event will last through the day and into the evening, so timestamp threads as necessary! Also, any volunteers for paling support (mages), guard duty (fighters), entertainment and general thievery (thieves) are welcome to indicate so here.
A generous effort made by the Mages Guild, a wide stretch of nearby beach, this one remaining whole and unassailed by any recent violent events, was partitioned off by a large paling. Allowing the citizens a safe and free summer holiday of sorts, volunteer guards walked along the sand as well, just in case some stray catastrophe threatened to interfere. Recent events being what they were, it seemed to be the most rational of precautions. Fortunately for everyone on that particular Saturday, the sea finally seemed to grow peaceful at last. Aside from the freedom to lounge and swim without fear of monsters bubbling up from the deep and other possible dangers, local hawkers and entertainers cropped up in small groups as the day went on, attempting to capitalize on the opportunity. There was food abound as well, and the guards and other visiting fighters seemed to naturally gravitate toward the wafting smells of roasting meats and other delicacies. Fires scattered along the beach as the sun went down, as revelers drank and celebrated long into the evening. Warriors fought after their share of succulent grilled meats, commoners enjoyed a reprieve from their daily toil, and merchants now regaining a semblance of their usual profits were lingering about eagerly, determined to sell as much as they could. The day could not compare to the usual yearly festivals, or even the lavish balls held in the Nobles District, but it did make a point to prove that, no matter the current troubles, Emillion wouldn’t allow its spirit to be broken so easily. |
