... For my monster from his slab, began to rise & suddenly to my surprise...
Who: Everyone in the area/Everyone who can get there!
What: The Lich.
Where: The Caves formerly known for fire!
When: Tonight.
Rating: R; violence!
The fight against the undead ended weeks ago, or so it seemed, with the destruction of the last undead knight, but unfortunately the threat of the Lich did not abate. Due to its hasty escape from the city, it seemed that it was now perpetuating its plans from somewhere in the outlands. Undead creatures were now rumored to be found staggering across farms and fields, edging closer and closer to nearby villages. Growing in steadily in number with each passing day, innocent farmers and travelers began to lose their lives. Clearly the Lich did not roam far enough. Something needed to be done about this danger, and quickly. A group of guild members (Mag Paget, Divina Marcos, Maria Refresion, and Siana Banes) was tasked by Councilor Aspel Cassul with pinpointing where these monsters were emerging from. If something wasn’t accomplished soon, the undead would overwhelm the farmlands and small villages nearby, as even the Rangers stationed in the area were being quickly spread thin. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for the group to track these undead back to their origin--a strange and ominous cave, its outer walls covered in symbols written with blood--eerily similar to those found at the previous murder scenes in Emillion, as well as a number of old scorch marks. Anyone who investigated the Ifrit mission was already be familiar with the cave in question. Perhaps the most disturbing thing that was found at this location was the sheer amount of undead that lingered outside the cave and more that seemed to be emerging from the entrance. Was the Lich amassing an army of undead, and for what evil purpose? By observing for a short period, the group was able to take a headcount of over fifty lingering undead. This number did not include those who had either entered back into the cave or exited the area entirely. They were going to need back up to complete this mission, that much was certain. The team returned to Emillion to inform the others of the news and gather together the forces they needed to stop such a threat. How they chose to divide their forces and hold off the masses of undead, allowing others to infiltrate the cave in search of the Lich, was up for debate. Once the lair was finally infiltrated (in a completely different corner of the cave than Ifrit had been found before) with the combined efforts of the guilds, a loud noise heralded the approach of the first incoming party, echoing off the walls of cavern in warning. The Lich's lust for destruction seemed insatiable, as he was seen working over an altar most unholy. This particular abomination was more grotesque than any other undead found deep within the cave, but beyond this horror, there was a large number of ghosts and undead remaining behind to guard their master. A growl of pure frustration was offered as the Lich finalized the last stitch on the creature it had been working on. Completing the ritual to awaken the horrifying creature on the altar at last, the Lich turned in anger to face its enemies. "How kind of you to bring fodder for my army,” the Lich said at last, its sinewy lips curling into a sneer as he prepared to unleash the Dark and his mammoth creature stood from it’s slumber with hammer in hand. |
