I'm so confused on what I'm supposed to be, what am I doing?
Who: Aspel & Drake
What: It's a date?!
Where: The Sackheim Inn (lolol Drake's wallet weeps)
When: Tonight! 7pm
Rating: PG because Aspel in a dress.
Status: Complete!
The fact that he'd managed to get a reservation on such short notice really should have told him something about his ever increasing status. Instead, he'd seen it as a stroke of luck, because, really, he hadn't expected her to seriously agree. The initial invitation had been in jest, and he'd only followed it up to see if she'd say anything.
He really should have known better than to try and outwit Aspel Cassul.
But there was no way he was going to lose face over it, so he'd thrown on his nicest dinner jacket - he vaguely recalled that the Inn was still pretty high class - and despite everyone needing to talk to him about some matter or other, he still managed to make it fifteen minutes in advance. Which, in retrospect, probably wasn't the best idea, because he was standing there, awkwardly attempting to figure out if he should check them in or wait for Aspel to arrive, and what was he even doing?
Hadn't Ric told him Aspel was off limits? Heck, wasn't his sort-of girlfriend seeing Aspel? Really, he should have cut his losses and walked away. After all, if Aspel had taken the dinner thing seriously, what if she was taking the Watera thing seriously? He really didn't want to have to walk home, dripping wet. That was if he could even stand after being blasted with the spell. Instead, he was here, taking Aspel on, for all intents and purposes, a date.
He couldn't remember if he'd ever taken Ari on a date. And he was sleeping with her.
Maybe, he thought, only slightly panicked, she won't show up. Unlikely, but a man could hope. Or maybe he shouldn't be hoping for that. Wouldn't it be worse to have been stood up? At this point, he seriously couldn't decide.
He just had to remember that it was just dinner. It wasn't like they hadn't had dinner together before. So what if Ari had been there last time? Drake could carry on a conversation, and Aspel was friendly. They would have a good time, and he would never tell Ari about it because he knew Ari would die laughing. And then write a song posthumously wherein she detailed all of the anxiety Drake was currently feeling because, even if he didn't say anything, she would know.
Stop thinking about it, he told himself firmly. Dinner didn't mean anything. Dinner was just a meal. He was not taking Aspel Cassul on a date. He was just taking her out to dinner.
