She gave Quenten half an hour to work, saying nothing until she saw exhaustion start to settle into the young woman's features. Then she took the bowl and pulled it away, pushing the glass of tea closer instead. "Rest," she suggested. "While you do, let us go over a few things."
She poured her own glass of tea before leaning back against the wall from which the bench jutted. "The written portion of the exam should not be a concern; I will give you a list of the books you need to study. Most are available in Braille, I believe. You will need to perfect Fire before you can be tested, and I believe I will attempt to start on Poison, though it may not be fully complete in time for the exam in late Virgo." It would depend on how long Fire would take.
"Before then, I will try to arrange on one or two occasions for a fighter to escort myself and a group of the more advance scholars planning to sit the exam outside the city walls." She thought she would get the approval for it, if she framed it correctly. "It will not compare to a true battle," she cautioned, "but perhaps it will give you some small idea of what the future may look like."
