Oh what a pretty high note
Who: Altair and Ari (and Nate!)
What: Getting locks for the Great Lockpicking Contest of '13; Testing Nameless Song
Where: The Commoners District
When: Today, noon
Rating: G or PG
Status: Complete!
One thing Altair never envied about Ari's life as a performer was the schedule. The closer she got to a show, the more of her time was consumed by rehearsals and costume fittings. Altair had never liked being told what to do, not even by a director. He suspected the feeling was mutual: the conductors and directors in the Bard's Guild asked for his help only when desperate. It was the way Altair preferred it, really. He was no chorister, nor an accompanist.
Performing was Ari's passion, however. She seemed undeterred by the hard work or the time commitment required. Even Hell Week, which preceded the opening weekend of a show, she endured with a sense of resigned good cheer, like a marathon runner rounding the 40th kilometer of the race. Perhaps it was because Altair knew so many performers and understood their lives, or perhaps it was simply that he liked Ari, that he was willing to work around her increasingly busy schedule as her current project neared completion. Whatever it was, he found himself at the Commoners Crystal at noon on Friday, waiting for her to teleport in so that they could go buy the locks they'd ordered for their competition.
He'd also agreed to help her test a new Bardic Song she'd been working on for the past month. He couldn't write that off as obligation or a willingness to accommodate a performer's busy schedule, so he supposed it must be the other reason. Still, he did wish she would hurry. He took out his pocketwatch, glanced at the time, and sighed as he replaced it in the pocket of his waistcoat.
