"An Orator," she repeated. He moved easily on to music as if being an orator was unimportant. In a way it was, in another it was one of the skills she admired most. It was one she'd thought of dabbling in herself once or twice, despite the family's tradition of becoming a dancer. But she was a dancer and the guild had so many options for her to explore.
The girl was still young.
"I would very much like a proper introduction to the guild," she said amiably to Altair. Ignorance was deadly, which is why she played on the side of naive and pretty flower. People were much more free with their information when they believed you wouldn't or couldn't do anything with it. "And I would gladly dance if you played," she added with a soft smile.
They'd walked even further into the garden and she wondered if her escort was looking for her. The thought of him lecturing her about safety and propriety amused her. She would tell him the truth, however. She had wanted to see the gardens. The place he'd taken her felt very private. He pushed the gate open and she could see everything. It took her a moment to adjust to the flood of color as most of what they'd been walking through was still in the process of blooming.
While she had said she enjoyed colors, it was almost painfully vibrant. Seeing that he was waiting for her, she stepped into the garden. There was no waiting, but she didn't stray from the pathways and stones for walking as she explored it. Moments later, she turned and smiled brightly. "It is so very lovely."
Pausing at a particularly out of season plant, she knelt down to touch it. "Is this supposed to bloom now?"
