A dancer? Well, she was certainly graceful enough for it. That was even more interesting; who would have thought they were guildmates? "I'm an Orator," Altair explained, "but I studied with the Bards for years. I play the piano and sing." He laughed lightly and said, "Perhaps we should endeavor to visit the Guild at the same time. I could play while you dance." He didn't ordinarily offer to play for people, as he didn't much like being the center of attention; but he did rather like having the occasion to do private performances with his guildmates.
By now they were pretty much already at the gate to the back garden, which was housed in an arch in the shrubberies. Altair pushed it open to reveal the back garden. It had been planted so that there was always something blooming at any given time of year, so while most of the plants and bushes were green, there were some tulips and daffodils just beginning to bloom. The willow tree was getting some tiny green leaves on its branches, and the apple and cherry trees were budding. A cast iron bench sat under the willow tree.
"This is my favorite place," Altair confided as he held the gate open for her and stepped aside so that she could go in first.
