Emily spent more time at Cormac's home lately and with so much of what she wanted accomplished, there was now time and a clearer path that laid before the two of them. Engaged they were, but now they could plan their wedding and figure everything else out. One of the main things they had to figure out was Ridley, who now inhabited a room in Cormac's home. Ridley was one of the few people that Cormac associated with that she actually kind of liked. She didn't trust the girl, certainly, but she didn't mind her presence in Cormac's life. Ridley was out doing something, which left Cormac and Emily alone for a bit until her eventual return. Emily came over to where Cormac sat and took a seat next to him, "Spring?" she asked as a way to introduce the topic, "Or maybe we should just get it done as quickly as possible." He might have no idea what she was talking about but she figured she'd fill him in if he didn't figure it out himself. Cormac looked down at his paperwork. The sheet was flipped as she asked him a question. At least, it felt like she was talking to him. He could never be sure unless he looked up to check, but he was currently looking over some notes on a patient. He'd look up and check at the end of the paragraph. Or he would have if she hadn't continued. "Hm," he said in response, his pen tapping the point his eyes had halted. He looked up to see Emily there. "Ah, we're doing something?" Now that she had his attention, Emily just smiled, "Moving to Kerwon, of course." She paused to let it soak in and shook her head at him before clarified, "Getting married, Cormac. We're engaged, we should probably find our way to a chapel at some point. It's been long enough, don't you think?" She wasn't rushing to get there, but part of her wondered if they should. Given the state of Emillion lately, their wedding would be a good idea. And maybe even leaving for Kerwon, but she'd rather go to Ordalia. "I'm starting to think eloping might actually be the most reasonable thing to do," she added as an afterthought, turning away from and glancing briefly outside the nearby window. Cormac blinked, not completely sure what was happening and then she corrected herself. "Ah, yes. The wedding." The wedding. There were so many things to do when it came to the wedding. "It isn't too soon?" Not that he cared about what people thought of him, but Emily had such a beautiful image. "Oh wait, you said something about Spring. Maybe in Saggitarius." "No, not now," Emily chuckled, "but Sagittarius is good. And then a trip to Orlais. A long trip...though…" she trailed off and then look at Cormac again. Now was probably a good time to bring up Ridley and what was going on. She seemed to be taking a more permanent fixture in their lives, and Cormac depended on her a great deal. She said, "Have you thought about Ridley when we're married? Where she'll live? I know spoken before, but that was before someone dealt justice to my father. Will she be staying here or coming to the house?" Her house, to be specific. They had talked briefly about Ridley, but he'd never actually managed to get the girl alone. And when he did they were busy with other things or he'd been distracted with one thing or another. "Well, since it's her choice, it'll have to be her decision," he said as he poured himself a drink. "I just actually need to ask her. Or you can. She's going to be the flower girl, right?" He couldn't think of asking another child. Ringbearer was another thing altogether. "I should probably officially ask Darius to be my best man so he can get all my things in order," he said thoughtfully before adding. "Like my bachelor party." "I could speak with her," Emily said, realizing it was probably better that she did in some respect. It was probably a good idea for Emily to get to know Ridley a bit more anyway if the living situation was going to change. An eyebrow raised when he spoke of a bachelor party and she could only imagine what sort of event that would be and the planning Darius would put into it. "I'm sure it will be quite a spectacle. Hopefully you'll still decide to show up to the wedding." She didn't have anyone in mind for a maid-of-honor, not immediately coming to mind at least. Since returning she'd found her allies had run thin since her absence. Changing faces, people coming and going, others dying… "Good good, sounds good. Just show her some white magic and she'll be your biggest fan. You see how she looks at Darius," he said waving a hand. "Speaking of him, as pure-hearted as he may be, can be very creative when it comes to parties." Pure was the nice way of saying soft. He might've been his "best friend" but he did a lot of things lead by his heart. He was a highly moral man, where Cormac was more of a logic driven one. "Did I tell you he was in a relationship with Audrey before they got married?" He might have. He couldn't remember. "I see how a lot of women look at Darius," Emily said, "so I'm grateful that the way she looks at him is much different." If doing some white magic would win the young mage over, then so be it, but Emily was sure there'd need to be more than that needed, especially if Ridley expressed interest in living with Cormac and herself after the wedding. Emily mused when he spoke of Darius's creativity in parties, "This does not surprise me in the least. I'm sure many priests entertain less than noble thoughts at times." Nobody was perfect, but some people had this idea that people like that existed. If they didn't, Emily wouldn't have the reputation she did. "No," Emily replied about Audrey, "You failed to mention that. How long before the marriage did it end?" |
